We really enjoyed our first stay at a Marriott hotel and they will be the first hotels we look at when travelling. The Marriott Hamburg is in a perfect location as it is very quiet and peaceful some great food options nearby and is only a 4 minute walk to a metro and 9 minutes to the main town square. The hotel staff were very helpful and genuinely friendly. They helped us make restaurant reservations which is very handy if you do not speak German.
We were in room 509 it overlooked the very quiet street outside which had no traffice at all night and hardly any at all during the day, The room was on the executive floor which gives you access to the executive lounge which in this hotel was excellent and run by this very friendly English lady who looked after everyone amazingly. Throughout the day you can have complimentary nibbles and soft drinks, beer, tea, coffee and amazing hot chocolate, And in the evening there are 3 different little hot dishes and some small cold dishes and cheese and wine along with deserts and cakes. Our room was very spacious with a very comfortable bed and a choice of hard or soft pillows, along with a comfortable arm chair and a fridge handy for keeping the daily free refreshing Bismark water in with ice cubes delivered by pressing the service button on the room telephone. The bathroom is a good size with a nice bath and a good quality shower with very good pressure and includes amazing shower gel which we have since purchased online. The breakfast is in a bright and airy breakfast room and is included in the room rate is the usual fresh queezed and pressed juices, fresh fruit, toast, pastriess, cheese and ham. But also hot foods such as bacon, sausages and also has an egg station where a chef cooks your eggs to order how you like them. My favourite part was the smoked salmon and side of mustard dill sauce, and the fresh honey comb. They serve tea, coffee and champagne.
We can not actually think of anything that was wrong with this hotel the only thing although not something that was wrong was that we did not receive any turn evening down service that was advertised. We cant wait to stay at this hotel again to see the few sites we didnt get to see on this trip before heading to a different Marriot near wolfsburg to see the VW factory and museum.
Tips for Hamburg
I recently had an unpleasant experience at the Marriott Hamburg during one of their Piano Nights at the Piano Bar. As a non-German citizen who doesn’t speak the language, I, along with my guests, faced clear discrimination from one of the senior waiters (a tall, bald man).
The seating process was poorly managed. Despite waiting patiently for over 15 minutes straight, we were ignored, with the waiter dismissively telling us with an attitude, "Sorry, no tables available," and walking away without. When a table eventually became free, another group of German guests walked in and immediately seated themselves, even though the previous occupants had pointed to us as the next in line for the table as they walked out of the place.
What made the situation worse was that the same head waiter witnessed the entire incident. When a colleague was kind enought to bring it to his attention, he simply shrugged, made a dismissive hand gesture, and signaled to ignore the issue (although it's his job to ensure a pleasent experience to guests!). This lack of professionalism and accountability was deeply disrespectful to me and my guests.
Feeling humiliated and unwelcome, I had no choice but to leave with my guests. Such behavior is unacceptable in an international hotel chain with decades of exceptional hospitality. This waiter failed in his duty to manage seating and guest expectations fairly and ensure a welcoming environment for all. I strongly urge the management to address this matter and take appropriate disciplinary action to ensure such incidents do not...
Read moreTo whom it may concern, I would like to note favorably the excellent treatment we received at the Marriott Hotel Hamburg 25-30 August 2021. From the first moment we were treated in a professional and warm manner. We were challenging tourists.. Because of the Ironman competition, we demanded lots of water bottles, and we had to have someone take our trash several times a day. In addition, some of us are religious Jews who come from Israel and because of religious laws can not use electricity on Shabbat (Saturday). This required the hotel staff to assist us in getting to the elevator, entering the room and more. The hotel staff did everything in the best way possible, without any judgment and out of dedication and a positive and pleasant attitude. For any question and problem we could contact the staff. We do not remember the names of everyone - but every staff member - from the cleaners through the receptionists - has been exceptional! At any time of the day, for any request, whether it is to print materials, assist with taxi or flight arrangements, or general questions about Hamburg, the hotel staff assisted in a courteous and professional manner. It was a pleasure to stay in the hotel. We would definitely recommend friends to come to this hotel. Thank you so much for a great...
