Il Nonnino Hamburg — Restaurant in Hamburg

I used to go to the restaurant quite often, the food is very decent, especially the tomato soup and Minestrone. The chef really knows his business, BUT: the attitude of the owner (or is it the manager, I don't know) and the waiter leaves much to be desired. They are quite rude and behave arrogantly. At the time I was actively watching my figure and losing weight, using calorie counting to make sure I didn't eat more than I should. When I started weighing my food and marking it on my phone, both the waiter and the manager started laughing and talking about something. Then the waiter tried to talk me out of it, saying that it was stupid and so on. He speaks Russian, so we had been quite friendly before this incident, but after it I lost the desire to go to the restaurant and communicate with any of them. And yes, they only accept EC-bank cards or cash, keep in mind. The pizza and pasta are good, the risotto is mediocre. I'm not giving it a 1 for respecting the chef. Extremely unfriendly. I entered the restaurant as my colleague told me that we will meet there. I went in a bit early and asked if my colleague had reserved a seat although i should have asked it from my colleague in advance. For this he answered very rudely and said it is fine even if there is no reservation. The moment my colleague joined me, before even ordering, he asked if we would pay cash or thr card. I said card and the other one cash. He told would prefer cash which literally mean he is fine with the card too. Our order was delayed and since i drank more and was little short of cash i asked him to take my card for which he said no on my face. That was extremely rude. Had a meal on a Monday evening, didn’t book a table just turned up. It was really quiet, did my best German and got shown to a table by the nice lady. After that the experience was poor!

She must have worked the afternoon, with an older gent doing the evening service. He was miserable and unwelcoming - not just to us foreigners but everyone. Didn’t put us at ease even though we were having a go at speaking the language. Behaved like he really didn’t want to go be there or want the customers to be there either

Food was actually good, so was the beer.
