Kleines Phi — Restaurant in Hamburg

Sometimes the hype is right. There was a lot of buzz about the opening of the ‘Kleines Phi’ in June of 2015.

A bar in a superb location that wants to do everything right: A well designed place with just the right amount of hipness. The professional drinks are served in jars. The Hip Hop music goes well with the sunset light that illuminates the whole place. The guests arrive with their bikes or skateboards and the staff is super laid-back. If you do not get a table in the front, try the very cosy backyard. It is amazing. The atmosphere is great! Welcome to your Hamburg sundowner.

Although the ‘Phi’ is mainly a bar, they will occasionally offer special food, made by special people (kitchen crews from all over the world). At least once a week (Thu) this place offers freshly made Ceviche that goes very well with the craft beer. But the true highlight is Taco day. Ok, I love cocktail bars and obviously I love cocktails. To make it clear, I'm not that much into 5* hotel cocktail bar where you're not allowed to speak higher than 20db but more into the people's cocktail bars. At the top of my list, the "Collage" in Barcelona has been firmly seating on the throne for the past years. Unfortunately for him, he will have to share his throne with the Kleines Phi (I'm not good at choosing so I prefer having ex æquo...). The decor is perfect, dark and minimalistic, the bar looks amazing with his custom made wall boxes, the choice of drinks is really unlimited and the staff behind the bar is mind-blowing. The madman (quoting the owner) Pät, apart from being super cool, has created an unbelievable mix of creative cocktails that will definitely have your brain...

Apparently is very difficult to gent a table (my friend who had this task told me). I'm not from Perú, but I think the food was suuuper good! The idea of the menu is that you order several dishes to share and try different things. It is a bit expensive for the size of the portions but it was a cool experience. And my friend from Lima, Perú told me that is the most authentic Peruvian food she has tried in Hamburg. The place is small but it has a terrace in the front and a patio in the back. The patio can get a bit dark in the night; I left around 20.00 and by then it felt like we could use some light. In theThe staff was very nice :).
