Such an unfortunate disappointment! My wife and I went on a long needed date night while the kids were at one of the musicals with the grandparents. We were so excited about having oysters at this super cool looking place in the middle of beautiful Hamburg.
After an hour of waiting for our table (which we had reservations) we got our table. Waiter dropped off the menu and another hour later he came by to get our order, just to find out that they were sold out of oysters. I'm sorry but what restaurant SELLS OUT of the first feature item on the menu on a Saturday night at 8:00 PM!!! My wife almost started crying.
I think unfortunately from there, things just went downhill. My wife ordered the crab cake and lobster. The crab cake was a tiny croquet that could have been anything fried. The lobster was indeed quite delicious, this is the only reason for the stars.
I ordered the lobster bisque and wanted the pastrami steak, but they were also out, so I settled for the burger (when in Hamburg, you must have a Hamburger) as I read great reviews about it. The bisque was so salty that it was almost inedible, like the crab cakes, it could have been any sort of fish bisque. The burger was fine, but I could tell it sat under the warming light too long and the bun was super soggy and the fries, well, they were previously frozen soggy fries.
The waiter never came back to offer another drink or desert, so after several attempts to get his attention, another waiter came by and we paid and left, very disappointed.
Oh, and the cherry on top was that they couldn't find our coats, took them about 30 minutes to find them.
For the amount of money that we paid, I don't understand how a place like this can deliver SO poorly. The building is a magnificent building in the heart of the city and with so many other amazing restaurants around, get it...

The service was so bad, when entering the restaurant standing in front of the receptionist and we have made eye contact, he didnt greet us and we waited for 5 mins. Since there were just 3 of us, we said hello to request his service. I said twice in german that we have a booking but he didnt seem to bother to look it up then i repeated again in English.
Then the host recommended us a cocktail which was pretty great but he didnt mention the drink costs 28 wuros. Anyway, that guy was pretty nice so not much to complain.
There were constantly 4-5 waiters but our table was never being noticed. We waited 30 minutes and no one came to collect our plates and serving the main course. The waiter asked us whether we wanted to wait a while before having the main course which we declined and mentioned that we want it as soon as possible. However, we waited about 30 minutes, and the food was not served hot. One of our side dishes was room temperature.
Not surprisingly, we waited another 30 minutes for them to clear the table after we finished our main course.
I didnt not managed to get the menu for dessert, after waiting another 15 mins, we decided to go.
In general we waited quite long time for the food and our main was not served hot, just slightly warm. Portion was slightly smaller than average.
In summary, food was ok a bit overpriced for the quality but acceptable. Service is otherwise not acceptable. Eating time 30 minutes waiting...
Read moreMost disappointing meal I've had in Hamburg and not worth it. The location is great and since I live around the corner, I thought I'd try the gourmet summer menu for two. With two lobster salads on the side, a glass of champagne, a cocktail, a bottle of water and a wine pairing for just one person, we ended up paying around 250 euros. The four-course meal took 3 hours, not because it was so good, but because the service was so slow. The staff was generally unenthusiastic and rarely showed any real interest.
The food was mediocre at best, with many bland components, although it was nicely presented. There was almost no lobster in the lobster salad and the promised quail praline was just a quail egg, the caviar pearls as an amuse bouche had been in the gelling agent for so long that they were too thick and not seasoned enough, the swordfish was so incredibly tough and overcooked that it was inedible. We sent it back and they just added another piece of overcooked, tough fish that was equally inedible. The steak was also inedible. Terrible amateur cooking. The wine for the second course was served 30 minutes before the dish arrived and was warm by the time it arrived.
Apart from the decoration of the room, which is very nice, I cannot...
