Very poor English info. No personal purpose photography permission. Very impolite guards. You find that the photos are not allowed after you pay the ticket ( info is inside the exhibition room). A disappointment. I lost 18 euros. The museum forbids the photography for personal purpose (my wife needs to take pictures at the description of the paintings in order to find out easier an faster info about the paintings - otherwise she should stay minutes in front of the painting in order to read the info) . But we found this just after we paid the tickets. When my wife tried to take a picture of a description was very abruptly an not politely asked to delete the photo. The curator showed us a little sign with a camera above the entrance at the interior. Nobody could see that sign. You have to improve the info and to think at people that want to document their visit using the modern technologies as camera instant translation, or other personal purpose photography. What can a person with vision problems could do? A handy camera could help that person. Because my wife couldn't use the camera to translate in English the description and to magnify the description she went out of the museum after 15 minutes, I had to go out too. The woman from info desk (after we waited 15 minutes in order her to finish a chat with o friend of her) agreed to refund one ticket but I lost also the two 3 euro vouchers I used, in total I lost 18 euros. Also, when I asked refund for both of us I was refused because "I should asked before if photography is permitted". In 99% of the museums the personal purpose photography is permitted. At least you could put a sign at the entrance and to train your employees fot a full refund when a client cannot see the museum for different reasons. Was a lost day also and that counts. And was also the birthday of my wife finished in...

A Magnificent Exhibition of Lee Miller

The exhibition unfolds the mesmerizing transformation of a cover girl into a wartime documentarist. We witness how, in the early stages of her career, her photographs exuded a certain static quality, possibly influenced by her experience as a model. However, her encounter with French artists noticeably infused her work with artistic flair. The Egyptian series serves as a splendid example of this artistic evolution. During her time as a war correspondent, her frames gained dynamism and depth.

Particularly poignant was her project portraying women during the war, where flirtatiousness was juxtaposed with the profound drama of warfare. Also, It was quite striking to find out that Vogue back then published photographs from concentration camps (a far cry from today's more reserved approach).

After enduring the hardships of war, Lee finds solace in the tranquility of country life, and her creativity blossoms into something light, exuberant, and contentedly serene.

In summary, I highly recommend everyone to visit this exhibition. It is a remarkable journey through the life and work of Lee Miller. Don't miss the chance to explore this captivating narrative.

The custodians, aka the guard in the room, when I'm out the phone from my bag, became very aggressive in language (he screamed at me "keine phone" gesturing from his hands). He was extremely rude! Nowhere at the entrance to the museum, there is a sign showing that you are not allowed to take pictures. It was an extremely unpleasant experience. The phone I wanted to use to translate my text from the photo description. All that is written in the museum is in German, with a small font in the shadow of the painting, partly unread in the shadow of the painting. After the incident, I quit visiting the museum. I asked for a refund, but I was denied motivating that this is the policy of the museum. That they are don't have to display "forbidden shooting"... In the Louvre, MOMA and other large museums, I did not have this unpleasant experience. I visited other museums in Hamburg and I did not have this problem. Per total, a very unpleasant experience, I do not recommend it, very expensive, bad services, a small private museum.

I lost 18 euros plus two hours of my time. I paid service and I was...

This museum only has temporary exhibitions, located just next to the very beautiful Rathaus. The entrance is 9 euros for an adult. The exhibition when we visited was about 1920’s art. Very beautiful collection of several aspects such as political, cultural but also just portraits of people of the 20s. Beautiful museum and friendly people, although the descriptions were only in German. It’s a bit disturbing me, since the exhibition was also a lot about stories what I just missed unfortunately. Luckily the visual aspect of the exhibition was still astonishing.
