Warung Garuda - Asian Fusion Kitchen — Restaurant in Hamburg

Okay hello. What’s this place? A place to make me reminisce on home? The host is the BEST, not just friendly and kind——but gave you the most heartwarming welcome. Don’t get me started with the food. The portion is HELL MASSIVE. Personally speaking since I normally don’t eat that much anymore ever since I lived in Germany, it’s your normal portion of Indonesian food. Really reminds me of “warung” fr, cause they asked if I’d have another bowl of rice when it’s more than enough😭‼️ EVEEEN. When I didn’t get to finished my food and wanted to packed it home, they gave us new rice instead☹️ saying it’s gonna be cold and it wouldn’t be good.

Gado gado 9,5/10 kacangnya kentel kremes kremes dan kecapnya berasa. Mirip kalau nenek bikinin..🧎🏻 Ayam gorengnya??? 9,8/10 ENAK BANGET??? Rasanya meresep terus mateng di dalem ++kremesnya gurih. Nasi 10/10 gak usah ditanya. Temen ku yang dari Madagaskar pun bilang “loh ini matengnya pas banget” 😙✌️✨ Lumpia goreng 8/10 GUEDE, enak dan ini vorspeisen langsung ngenyangin tinggal nambah nasi sebenernya. Saosnya 9/10‼️ kayak saos abang abang🗣️ (the best compliment mind you) Sate ayam 9,8/10 BANYAK??? Banyak banget dan enak banget??? Bawang gorengnya?? Saos kacangnya??

Perhaps it was thanks to the atmosphere as well. How the pop music back from elementary school is playing in the background. The wooden chairs. People with bright and warm smile. It kinda takes me back to home though it was merely for some few good hours.

I have visited this restaurant before. The first time I went, they served a very authentic taste of Nasi Goreng. It truly tasted like the one in Indonesia — dry with that smoky taste. Due to this experience, I went the second time, craving for the same Nasi Goreng. The second time I was utterly disappointed! Did you change the chef? Because this Nasi Goreng is definitely not edible! Not only it is soggy, it is extremely salty. I ended up not eating even a third of the plate. It was awful! Never again.

Also: do not choose Rendang here. My friend got it the first time we went there. The Rendang dish is expensive but tastes nothing like actual Rendang. It rather tastes like something they make out of an instant spice packaging. Never never again. The waiter there recommended us Rendang as their “best” dish. But it didn’t live up to what it has been described as.

Service and atmosphere: very friendly and the food comes fast. The portion is large (despite being inedible). The restaurant is small with minimum decoration. Looks a bit like an Imbiss.

Food: they claim to be “Asian fusion” restaurant. Yet I would not trust the Thai and Chinese menu offered especially as they are run completely by Indonesians.

Price: reasonable.

Vegetarian/Vegan options: quite sufficient.

Drinks: they do not offer alcoholic beverages. This is quite normal. They offer rather quick drinks from packagings. Nothing homemade.

OMG, you guys, Warung Garuda near Miniatur Wunderland is like THE place to be for epic eats! 🌟🍜 They've got Indonesian 🇮🇩, Chinese 🇨🇳, and Thai 🇹🇭 food that will totally blow your mind 🤯. My taste buds are still vibing after trying their Nasi Goreng Bebek, Rindfleisch mit Zwiebeln, and Sate Kambing. 🤤

First off, the Nasi Goreng Bebek 🍚🦆. Like, crispy duck heaven! 😍 The crunch + the flavorful fried rice = pure magic ✨. It's a flavor explosion 💥 in your mouth, and you won't be able to stop eating it. Seriously, SO GOOD.

And, you HAVE to get the Sate Kambing (lamb skewers) 🍢🐑. They're grilled to perfection, super tender, and bursting with flavor. It's like a flavor party 🎉 on a stick. So delish!

The vibe at Warung Garuda is super chill 😎, kinda like an Imbiss but with enough seating to hang out and enjoy your meal 🪑. Drink options are pretty standard 🥤, but they've got mango lassi 🥭 that's total bliss, especially if you're into spicy dishes 🌶️.
