⭐️OUTSTANDING PRESENTATION ⭐️ 🇺🇸 INTERNATIONALES MARITIMES MUSEUM HAMBURG ( The museum is part of the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE - PROGRAMM ) You can also take part in a virtual tour via the museum website. HAMBURG "The gateway to the world" Hundreds of thousands of people have set out to emigrate to the free world through this gateway in the past centuries. HAMBURG lives, especially when the day ends and the night begins. Well, in gloomy wet weather they are all the same, the big cities. HAMBURG is also the gateway for many goods that come to Germany via the container port. According to statistics, it is 80% "Made in PRC" 😀 If HAMBURG, then please also take a look back into the maritime history of the free and " HANSEATIC CITY " HAMBURG. First address here: " 👍🏻INTERNATIONALES MARITIMES MUSEUM HAMBURG " 👍🏻 on the Stortebecker Ufer. You will find the museum well placed between " SPEICHERSTADT " " ÜBERSEEQUARTIER" " KAISERSPEICHER B" Originally, a large granary was built here. In 1884, the building was converted into a trading center with 10 floors for goods from all over the world. Please start your discovery on floor 9, with the small ship models. On floor 8 you will find the " SCHATZKAMMER" with an excellent art collection. Very interesting is the floor 7: Expeditions Sea and Secrets of the Earth. On floor 6: The history of passenger shipping. Floor 5 is reserved for the German War Fleet. On floors 4 and 3, maritime objects and tools for shipbuilding are presented. The theme on floor 2 is the history of sailing ships. On floor 1, the importance of ships in the conquest of the world is explained. Before you can marvel at all this, you have to go to the cash register. The visit costs €/$ 15 for an adult. Here is also the foyer and a modest restaurant. I would like to recommend some nice restaurants: 1. SUSHI RESTAURANT " coast by east. (Großer Grasbrook 14, 20457) 2. BOOTSHAUS GRILL & BAR ( Am Kaiserkai 19, 20457) 3. Restaurant " VLET " ( Am Sandtorkai 23-24, 20457. Greetings from ALEXANDER

A lot to see. 9 floors of maritime history, mostly focusing around incredibly detailed model ships of all sizes. Some incredible scale dioramas and likely the largest collection of small scale model ships in the world. Truly a maritime museum of all aspects, not just focusing on German history. A large focus on other nations, cultures and histories is present. From Polynesian explorer rafts, to Chinese, to even British Narrow boats (a surprise to see) and even an entire history of the shipping container! (If that doesn't get you excited, I don't know what will). I have visited many maritime museums in the UK, and this may have beaten all of them! Acrophobia/ fear of heights warning. I have a very strong fear of heights. The museum is 9 floors high. While the main exhibition in the middle has floating stairs, there is a completely enclosed and solid stairwell and lift which will take you from the very bottom to the top, and includes a map at each level. Nearly all the windows are very small, and above waist height due the the age of the building, and nearly all are covered with a thick black mesh. It was not until I descended down 9 flights of stairs did realise just how high up I was, and only when attempting the stairs in the middle (where I quickly turned around and headed to the enclosed elevator) was my phobia slightly shaken.

Must go for all Marine enthusiasts. The Museum is huge, the prices range from 11-20 Euros depending on your status. In total there are 10 floors and at-least it will take 3-4 hours (Could take more if you read about all the ships). Being a fan of World War 2, I was extremely happy to see the 1:100 Scaled Bismarck, Tirpitz, Yamato, HMS Hood, Shells of Bismarck and Tirpitz, U Boat and many more. The whole Museum is on a ship theme, there are decks (floors) and each floor is made of wooden flooring, when you walk you get the creaky noise, and it gives a feel of a ship. Apart from the WW2, there are others ships as well, actually a lot many starting from the initial ones which were made of wood, till the modern ones. Each floor has its own story, and all are worth visiting. I could also see MG42, MG34, MP-40 and many other guns. There are definable many more things to see, Art work, Models, Stories, Uniforms, batches and so many more. If TL;DR - Definable everyone should visit this museum once, please take at-least 3-4 hours time and explore every floor.

9 floors of exhibits (not forgetting the half floors in between) for any maritime loving fan. The museum has a rather diverse collection from early shipping related history to navy related regalia and ships. It kinda have a bit of everything, and for the ship otakus, you'll find deck 9 to be orgasmically filled with various ship models and diorama. I was hoping to find more local related information since Hamburg has so much shipbuilding and shipping history but I supposed you can't be best in everything. Overall you can spend a good 2-4hrs depending on how absorbed you are. There are seats scattered abouts so tired feet can get some rest. Gift shop has diverse stuff too from machinery to automobile books. But still great selection of ship and maritime related books. Too bad most of them are in German as they look really interesting to have a copy of history. I would say come only if you have some interest in Maritime related subject. Children might get bored after 1hr. There's a cafe on ground floor so some coffee and food can be had.

The Museum starts with the story of a little boy who grew up to become an avid collector of all things nautical. Throughout his life, Peter Tamm (1928 - 2016) collected everything having to do with maritime history. As a young child, Peter's mother always brought him a gift when he was sick and had to stay in bed a miniature ship. And so his collector's passion was sparked. Today, over 1 million pictures,100,000 books, and 38,000 miniature ships, as well as countless oil paintings, nautical instruments, uniforms, maps, telescopes, and other nautically themed collectables make up the treasure trove stored within the International Maritime Museum. The museum, located in HafenCity Hamburg, opened its doors the the public in 2008. The extraordinary collection is distributed throughout various exhibits over nine levels, with each exhibit telling its own unique story through artifacts. For example, you might wish to visit the world's largest bone ship collection on level eight.

One of, if not the best museum i ever visited. Amazing collection of maritime history and artefacts that will really change your perspectives. The museum is huge and would take almost a day to fully absorb the 10 decks of artefacts and history, each with its own theme and flavour. Each deck is connected by staircases of wooden finish, resembling the deck of a ship. Tickets can be purchased at the reception for €15 per adult. The souvenir shop is around the reception area, while a book store with historical and significant maritime history is near to the reception. One can even get coffee from the vending machine at the book store for €2 per cup. Just outside the museum, lot of temporary eateries are available. One can go out to grab a bite and come back (make sure to jnform the ticket checking person that you would return back). The museum has multiple sitting benches at different areas on all decks. The pirate history on the 7th deck was my most favourite. Must visit!
