With heart and sugar — Restaurant in Hamburg

Located in the mid-east of Hamburg, this cafe was a really excellent pick to eat out and have breakfast. With a truly sugar-sweet design, the “Mit Herz und Zucker” cafés can be found in two different location; Lubecker (East of Alster lake) and Grindelhof (west of Alster lake).

In terms of interior furnishings, the café is a little variant - from the inside it looks a bit like a model single-family house: very clean and neat, tender and witty colors, a bit of decoration, modern yet not too fancy. The open bakery, is right in the entrance area. So they also bake it themselves, excellent!

The staff was so professional and guests were greeted very friendly and shown to their seatings. Even though the place was crowded, the hostesses had the place well under control. With my four visits to this location, I believe it's crowded all around their working hours.

First of all, the menu is loaded with healthy savoury dishes. The fresh served fruits along with their distinguished breads and locally roasted specialty coffee makes it a heck of experience. With the delicious scrambled eggs with slices of cheese on the top and plenty of pumpkin seeds and pomegranate sprinkled, this breakfast was really a treat.

Unfortunately I need to rate this place with one star. The reason is that place is not answering to phone calls and there is huge queue in front of restaurant. We headed all the way long to this place, lost time and couldn’t get the table because of queue… So my evaluation that they want as much customers as possible, but not caring about people as they are ready to leave them wait in front of the place and not answer the phone - just to get maximum gain! I didn’t try any of the dishes as I simply was not able to get in, so I need to leave that open.

(One star for the service) The staff were not nicely/friendly mannered. Just as we walked in, there was a lady who asked something very quickly, I didn't understand so I asked: "Sorry, wie bitte?" with my head leaning forward a bit to understand her better this time.

And her eyes and face went like frustrated and with a heavy exhale and very frustrated tone she asked the question again in English. I mean we went there to enjoy, and this very first step to make it not enjoyable. I mean the customer doesn't want to be rolled eyes at just because they couldn't catch one question. right?

Aside from this particular instance, the overall and default behavior of the staff was like all of them had a fight with their husbands/boyfriends last night, and so that now today, they are all grumpy. It seemed like they didn't like their job. Well, I worked at McDonalds and I didn't like my job, but I was not acting like this towards people...
