Osteria Alfredo — Restaurant in Heidelberg

Pls pls read this review if you are not local. The waitress and owner are really rude, I was really hurt and shocked by the way they treated me. I was being very polite and went in to ask whether I could get a table outside. The waitress said it is ok if you I could find one. I then sat outside and waited. The waitress came to the table next to me to get the bill and totally ignored me. I then saw a pile of menus on the table outside of the restaurant, so I asked whether I was supposed to get a menu by myself. And I apologized to her that I did not know about it. I went to grab one and waited for her to come back to get my order. She never showed up, I tried to call her from outside. But she could not see or hear me. So I went it and thought they probably wanted the customer to order from the counter. The waitress became really mad and said "you should call me!" Then she turned around and never spoke to me again. The owner suddenly showed up and became really upset and started to yell at me. He was making hand gesture and speaking German, what he meant is " this is lunch time. We cannot serve you if you are in a rush! Go! Go out!" I was really shocked and for a second, I was standing there and did not know what to do. I was helpless and tried to explain to them I did not know how it works here, I just went in to ask how I should order. From the reviews left by other people, I think they are actually racists. I was recently touring Heidelberg with a group of 4 people including me. (None of us are local.) We saw some of the reviews of the restaurant online, and decided to give it a try. We walked up to a table (did not sit down, by the way), and looked through a random menu for MAYBE 15 seconds before the owner (I’m assuming) came rushing out of the restaurant and immediately told us “We do not serve Americans. We are closed”, with a quick-tempered tone before barging back inside. At first I was super confused, as he spoke very quickly and too angrily to discern, until one of my group members pointed out what he said later in the day. We were all pretty psyched about eating there, so it’s honestly a shame we were kicked out before we even walked in....

Waren mit Kleinkind auf der Durchreise in Heidelberg. Kind hat grad vorm Urlaub entschlossen trocken zu werden, daher muss es noch schnell gehen, wenn es sagt, dass es mal muss. Waren grad nahe dem Restaurant und bin mit ihm rein und habe den Kellner höflich gefragt, ob ich mit dem Kind dienToilette benutzen dürfe; er bejahte und wies in Richtung einer Tür. Dahinter sah es dreckig und alt aus, dort saß in einer offenen Tür (wohl die Küche) ein auf mich schmuddelig wirkender rauchender Mann. Toilette ok. Als wir wieder raus sind hat dieser mich angeschnauzt, dass drei Häuser weiter öffentliche Toiletten seien und wir nicht seine Räumlichkeiten zu nutzen haben, seinen Strom verbrauchen usw. Ich konnte ihn leider nicht sehr gut verstehen. Habe ihm erklärt, dass ich höflich gefragt und sein Kollege es mir erlaubt habe. Er schimpfte weiter irgendetwas, ich habe nochmal nachgefragt, was er meine, aber er hatte wohl keine Lust mehr und verzog sich durch den Durchgang/Raucherbereich/Küche oder was auch immer das war Richtung Tresen. Seinen Kellner habe ich beim Rausgehen nochmal gefragt, ob ich nicht freundlich gefragt hätte - keine Reaktion - Angst? Aber heutzutage findet man doch Jobs, frag mich, warum So Jemand heutzutage noch Angestellte hat 🤔 Die beiden wirkten überdies ansonsten freundlich. In anderen Lokalen gibt es Hinweise „Toilettennutzung nur für Gäste oder für 50 Ct“ oder so. Wäre ja auch mal ne Maßnahme, wenn es ihn so in den Ruin treibt. Er hätte mich auch weiter schicken oder seine Angestellten entsprechend instruieren können, hat er aber nicht. Wir haben übrigens alles ordentlich hinterlassen. Das ist mir echt auf die Stimmung geschlagen. Hatten noch überlegt, uns dort etwas zu bestellen aber sind dann...
