I expected good, but not great, typical delivery type Thai food from Phuket based on its touristy location directly across from the gate of the old bridge, but I was completely wrong. The restaurant does offer delivery, but I highly suggest sitting down and enjoying the atmosphere of the meal.
Everything is brought out in dishes with candles to keep it warm, and with huge portion sizes, you'll probably want the extra time to finish everything. The decor is also great with authentic Thai stuff all around, but it manages to still feel refined and somewhat upscale despite the affordable prices.
I tried the chicken coconut soup as well as the chicken, peanut, coconut, peper curry. Both were fantastic. As I've begun to notice in Germany, even though these were marked 2 / 3 peppers on the spiciness scale, I didn't really feel they were at all spicy, but were very delicious. These were very well balanced in terms of taste and tasted very fresh. My wife had the curry duck and really enjoyed it, but I can't comment much further as she liked it so much she didn't share more than a tiny piece with me.
We also shared some spring rolls which had a great sauce, but the rolls were good, not great and tasted like they might be pre-made.
After we paid, we were surprised to get a glass of fruit juice as well as a palate cleanser which was fantastic. I glugged the whole thing down in seconds.
Service was very good. It took a while between appetizers and main course, but was completely forgiven by how good the food was. The staff was also very friendly and helped with menu selection.
I am incredibly surprised to say it, but the best Thai food I've had in my life was at Phuket, a Thai restaurant in Heidelberg directly across from...
Read moreThis was good Thai food. As is often the case with Asian staff, they concentrate and don’t smile. This can be off putting and maybe they should think about it… Back to the food, all good for us, we had dishes that included rice and that was ample for a single course. The chicken was not all fillet so there was a few bits to put aside. The prawns were a good size and in both cases the flavours were delicious. It’s a lovely restaurant inside with spotless toilets though we sat outside and discussed the climate scam with a Dutch couple who had sucked it all up. Quite expensive for what it was from an English perspective but we felt happy when we left and headed to...
Read moreLocated in a bustling tourist district, I reluctantly settled for "Phuket" due to limited options. The nearby German restaurant was fully booked, leaving me with few choices. However, my hopes were dashed as I experienced a major letdown. While I expected higher prices due to the prime location, I couldn't forgive the lack of freshness in the food. It's one thing to cater to tourists, but the basics like quality should never be compromised. The snack bar near my workplace costs only a third, and the food is fresher...
