OISHII — Restaurant in Karlsruhe

Today was the LAST TIME I came to this restaurant. 😡 I must say they just lost 2 regular customers... My husband and I used to come once a month and today we had a terrible experience. Two different waitresses came to our table and told us that we could not order more than TWO PIECES of sushi (Salmon Nigiri). Please note that this is an "All You Can Eat Buffet" and we charge accordingly. But the waitresses came to our table very upset saying that we could not order more than TWO PIECES (of Salmon Nigiri) per round! 🤡 according to WHAT IS WRITTEN ON THE MENU, in each round you can order 5 pieces of ANY of the items that are in the "All You Can Eat" catalog marked as included!! (According to the menu's own "rules") It turns out that the employees make "ugly faces" at customers who only want to eat sushi or something with salmon... Unless you want to eat rice, noodles or something other than fish in this "Sushi & Grill" restaurant, you run the risk of being treated like they treated us... it was really very unpleasant, a TERRIBLE experience. Not to mention that some things we order never arrive at the table... You "can" order 5 pieces per round but there is no guarantee that they will bring them! 😠 Their only policy is that there is no waste, but in reality you CANNOT eat the pieces you like... you have to order other things other than salmon or you will get upset employees at your table!! ...

Ich/Wir sind die letzten 2 Jahre oft (min. 10 Mal) beim Oishii essen gewesen. Wir haben auch schon bei verschiedenen Sushi-Restaurants (All you can eat sowie auf Bestellung) gegessen. Pforzheim, Stuttgart, Bremen und weitere in Karlsruhe.

Das Restaurant ist auf Massenbetrieb ausgelegt, an und für sich könnte man sich sehr wohl fühlen, denn das Ambiente ist durchaus angenehm, aber der Platz wird vollgeknallt mit Tischen und Stühlen. Privatsphäre ist da nicht wenns voll ist. Und es wird (und genau DAS ist der Grund warum wir andere Sushi Restaurants probiert haben) extrem laut wenn die Hütte voll ist.

Die Qualität der Sushi Spezialitäten würde ich als meistens gleichbleibend bewerten. Die Zutaten sind und bleiben ein Naturprodukt und das kann nun mal etwas schwanken. Aber trotzdem: Von allen Restaurants, die ich bisher besucht habe ist es immer noch auf Platz 2 (Platz 1 belegt der Chili-Club in Bremen). NIE haben wir Makis mit warmem Reis bekommen, NIE war der Fisch zu kalt oder warm. IMMER waren die Makis, Rolls und Sashimis einwandfrei und sauber geschnitten!!! Keine Fetzen, nie zu locker gerollt, sehr große Sorgfalt vom Sushi Meister.

Leider ist es wenig abwechslungsreich. Fast immer steht das gleiche auf der Karte (oder dem Tablet). Da könnte man ruhig mehr aufnehmen. Sushi bietet so viele Variationsmöglichkeiten! Apropos Tablet: Die Bestellungen laufen super, das Programm ist super einfach und übersichtlich und es Bilder dabei auf denen man sich das Essen ansehen kann. Besser hats noch keiner gelöst mit dem Tablet.

Die Lieferzeit an den Tisch ist oft total tagesabhängig. Mal geht es superfix und dann haben wir schon über 30min gewartet.

Der Service ist fix bei der Sache, allerdings ist die Personalfluktuation ziemlich hoch. Oft haben wir neue Gesichter gesehen. Dies ist wohl auch der Grund für den schwankenden Service und die unterschiedlichen Bewertungen die dafür vergeben wurden.

Preis: Für das gebotene absolut okay, Schnäppchenjäger profitieren vom günstigen Mittagsangebot, der aber das gleiche bietet wie das Abendangebot. Für 2 Personen und Getränken kann man so um die 60 Euro einplanen, wenn man sich zum Abendessen trifft. Mittagstisch kann man pro Nase rund 10 Euro sparen.

Trotz der Kritik, die ich vergebe, bewerte ich trotzdem mit 4 Sternen, da wir schon weitaus schlechteres für teuer Geld probiert haben.

NACHTRAG VOM 28.06.2019

Inzwischen waren wir wieder mehrmals dort. Die Qualität der Speisen hat in der Zwischenzeit abgenommen. Ich wollte dem Oishii noch eine Chance geben weil ich wirklich oft dort essen war. Dann wurde die gute Sojasauce auch noch gegen eine wirklich salzige komische Brühe getauscht, die den ganzen Sushigeschmack vernichtet. Wo Kikkoman drauf steht ist unseres Erachtens keine drin. Die benutzen wir nämlich auch für das Kochen zuhause.

Auch die Mittagskarte wird inzwischen in gekürzter Form angeboten.

Dem Reis hat Essig gefehlt, der hat nach nix geschmeckt.

Und die Musik war immer wieder auf Discolautstärke. Das Personal aber schnell und freundlich.

Aus diesem Grund werde ich dem Oishii von den ursprünglichen 4 Sternen zwei abziehen. Vielleicht nehmen wir nochmal den Weg auf uns um dort zu essen, vielleicht aber auch nicht....

I have eaten Oishii twice, but I don't think I will be giving it a third try.

Having eaten at all Japanese restaurants in Karlsruhe, I can tell you that this one is my least favorite for various reasons:

1. The sushi rice tastes weird and the texture is aproximate to mushy.
2. The yaki tori is too salty and over-cooked, using low-grade chicken thighs.
3. The nigiri cuts seem amateur and are smaller than any other in the city. 4) The salmon tataki was the worst I have ever tried. I don't think they understand the essentials of this simple, but delicious dish. Here, it was basically fully cooked minced salmon cheeks mixed (for whatever reason) with finely chopped onion, tomato and what seemed to be paprika.

The cut (maki) rolls are probably the most decent thing about this restaurant, but those are quite difficult to mess up.

If there world was ending and there was no other sushi choice, I might eat here again, but otherwise do yourself a favor and skip it. Plenty of other Japanese/Asian restaurants were you can get your money's worth for authentic,...
