Eiscafé Casal — Local services in Karlsruhe

Well… I visited here around May 2023. Gelato was amazing, I’m not gonna lie. But the service is likely to bring a little bit of pity, if you don’t speak German. -So I recommend you to order in German if possible- I acknowledge that Karlsruhe is not the most tourist visiting town, but still staff could be more welcoming for non-German speakers…

I asked one staff “Hallo, Do you speak English by any chance?” - Since I cannot speak it, and was there only for visiting my friend- And he nodded, frowning a little. So I tried to order with body language, and read the flavour out loud in German way as much as possible. He didn’t say a thing, until I get my order, and that was totally fine. But he kept the same attitude until I say “Danke, Have a good afternoon.” And leave the shop.

Yeah, it’s my fault that I don’t have that simple German to order a cup of gelato. But at the same time he doesn’t have to frown only with the fact that I cannot speak German… I don’t think I did something wrong other than that.

However I still recommend you to visit here for gelato, and I will do if I visit Karlsruhe again; Maybe with the simplest German skill not to be offended and offend the staff😂

I recently visited Eiscafe Casal, and I have to say that I was thrilled with their ice cream. Without a doubt, it was outstanding! The flavors I tried were exceptional - rich, creamy, and incredibly refreshing. Every bite was absolutely perfect. Therefore, when it comes to the ice cream, I give a rating of 5.

The only minor complaint I have is that the space in Eiscafe Casal was not very spacious, so it was a bit crowded. However, it didn't detract from my experience with their ice cream, which was exceptional.

Overall, it is a place I highly recommend to all ice cream lovers. Their flavors are fantastic, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is pleasant. If you're looking for top-notch ice cream - you won't be...

Hatte einen toten Käfer im Eis (Snickers). 17.08.25

War mit meinem freund hier, er hatte so eine bananen/eis schokolde und ich 2 Kugeln Eis, Raffaelo und Snickers. Ein paar Minuten nachdem ich mein Eis bekommen hatte (und schon am essen war) wollte sich mein freund dann einen dunklen Fleck im Eis bei mir genauer anschauen, von dem ich dachte, dass es eine Erdnuss wäre (hat halt im eis gesteckt, war snickers eis und erdnüsse können ja eine dunkle schale haben), tatsächlich war es dann aber ein (nicht unbedingt kleiner) toter Käfer. Leider habe ich vergessen ein Bild zu machen (war einfach zu schockiert). Als mein Freund und ich dieses Eis dann zurückgegeben haben, hatte uns die Kellnerin aber anscheinend falsch verstanden und alles einfach weggeworfen? Deswegen konnte dann der Chef (denke ich), sich das nicht mehr anschauen... Als wir das dann aber klargestellt hatten mussten wir mein Eis nicht mehr bezahlen, die Situation wurde aber nicht wirklich ernst genommen, es hieß der Käfer müsse beim Kugeln eingeschlossen worden sein oder wäre auf mein Eis geflogen. Man könne das ja mit einem Haar im Essen vergleichen und dass das ja passieren könne. Dass Käfer draußen aufs Eis können ist mir bewusst, das war aber so wie der da drin steckte (abgesehen davon dass er auch noch tot war) absolut unmöglich. Dass er bein Kugeln eingeschlossen worden sein könnte, kann ich mir vorstellen, dann müsste er aber innerhalb von ungefähr 3 Minuten die ich das Eis gegessen hatte gestorben sein, was ich mir irgendwie nur schwer vorstellen kann, kenne mich aber auch nicht genug mit Käfern aus um das zu beurteilen. Und auch wenn das der Fall ist, wäre es immer noch ein no-go für mich die Käfer auf das Eis zu lassen. Auch wenn das Eis wirklich SEHR lecker ist, werde ich hier nie wieder hingehen, es gibt auch an anderen Orten...
