After finishing our dinner and asking to pay, our server told me in German to come inside so that I could pay with a card. Once we got to the bar, she dramatically motioned to another younger server to come so that she could whisper something in his ear. He then chuckled and turned to me in English (which our server didn’t speak), gave me the receipt and bluntly told me that I should leave a 10% tip. Until that point I thought the service was fine and would have left a tip anyway, but being told to tip or how much to leave si simply rude and THAT is bad service. Tipping is a personal choice. I quickly agreed and left the tip as I’m a polite Canadian, but I can say this much, I will never go to this restaurant or recommend it although the food was excellent, solely for this reason. This left a very bad impression on me after my partner and I discretely enjoyed our food, being respectful to our waitress and tried as best as we could to pronounce all the German words we knew. Read moreVery nice and cosy place. I was fortunate to visit when it wasn't crowded although I can certainly see it can be. Very nice ambience in the evening with the soft glows from the standing lamps and the warm light from the interior. White LED lights in the tentage could be changed to warm yellow, for better matching ambience.
Food and service is good. Waiter advised me not to order the appetizer since I've already ordered the Lohmann Schnitzel, warning me that the portion is big. Fortunately I listened to him. The Lohmann Schnitzel portion was most certainly large and coupled with the cheese and ham topping, it doesn't fail to fill you up. Delicious, warm, crusty but not dry, it is most certainly one of the best meals I've ever had in Germany.
Most excellent and I look forward to...

It was very busy and so I was seated at the bar and he took the time to tell me the specials in English (the rest of the menu has both German and English). The woman working behind the bar also spoke English and took my order no problem, but I felt well looked after because the original staff member came by a little later to make sure my order had been taken. The schnitzel („wiener art"), while not the very best I've ever had, was tasty, as were the fries that came with it. The staff truly were the highlight of the experience, so thank you very...
