Künstlerhaus Kempten — Restaurant in Kempten (Allgäu)

Great central location, but that’s about it.

Young locals seem to have a nostalgic “fan boy” kind of attraction to this place. It’s central location makes it an easy place to meet up for students with no vehicle. The decor is very different than anything else you’ll find in Kempten, wobbly damaged worn 2nd hand tables and chairs mix matched from a thrift shop which I image is intended to give an alternative artsy feel.

I’m often invited here to meet up with people for a beer or coffee. As I said, location makes this place very accessible, but other than that, this is a very vanilla cafe. The beer selection is very limited and the food has been forgettable every time I dared to eat here. The service is also hit or miss.

If you’re a college student or teenager this may be a good spot for you to meet up with friends. Central in the city right by the bus station.

This is my subjective opinion, but I’m not a fan of Künstler. Pano, Irish pub, brommler bakery, Pur Natur, have better quality food and drinks. And are all walking distance in the city.

Place itself is nice. I was recorded to try this place, because they have really great sandwiches and salads. So I tried, just I tried a burger. Maybe I can recommend this place for sandwiches or salads, but not for a burger! It was dry and fries was too salty. Also it was wary hard to cut the burger in that basket. Also I ordered a spicy burger, but they forgot a chili and jalapeno, so it was a normal burger in the end and not so tasty. Ofcourse they really apologized for that and offered something else. "Assig" - ein Wort, in welchem am Besten diese Lokalität beschrieben ist. Total vergammelte und beschmutzte Tische, Stühle mit zum Teil aufgerissenen und fleckig versifften plattgesessenen Polstern, komplett abgewohnte Inneneinrichtung bunt vom Sperrmüll zusammengewürfelt, Staub und Unordnung ohne Ende. Die Gesellaftsspiele haben ihre besten Jahre und Vollständigkeit auch schon lange hinter sich. Der Aufstieg zum WC im 1. OG geht über eine Treppe mit zum Teil wackeligen Steinstufen, von welchen auch schon zwei gebrochen sind. Im Männer-WC setzt sich dieser ungepflegte Gammellook fort inkl. komplett losem Hahn am Wasserbecken und lose herunterhängendem Endlosstoffhandtuch. Auf einer Fritz-Cola Gummimatte drängten sich nur so die Fruchtfliegen, welche dick genährt wohl die Stammgäste hier sind. Der Koch läuft zwar freundlich grüßend mit deftig dreckig verschmutzter Kochjacke hinter dem Tresen rum. Bedient wird im am Rand mit zerbrochenen Scherben geschmückten Biergarten nicht, nur vorne, denn die Bedienung gibt bräsig zur Auskunft, sie sei doch alleine da. Zugleich sind aber zwei Damen bei mäßig besuchter Zeit hinter dem Tresen ohne sich gerade zu überarbeiten und eine zweite Bedienung sehe ich dennoch. Außerdem erfahre ich beim Bestellen, dass an einem frühen Freitag Nachmittag die Burger aus sind. Auf meine Frage, warum und was da genau aus ist, bekomme ich nur ein schiefes Lächeln.
