It was an interesting dinner evening at Osteria Novecento.
Initial impression: Friendly reception, showed us to the back section of the restaurant plus offering us to choose a table from two available. Good space between the tables, nice decoration all around and a large real candle on each table. Restaurant was busy with most of the tables occupied.
Food: I had the Panzerotti Ricotta Spinacci for my entree, which was great. Pasta was al dente and well seasoned, however portion size wise it could have been a bit more. It was sufficient for me, but other people probably would want more for dinner. My fellow companions were not as happy with their entrees. Portion wise they were more blessed than me, but they were not too happy with the taste and seasoning. Desserts were very good, we had the Mousse Al Limoncello and Tiramisu Al Fragole.
Now you might be wondering about the 2 star review, so let’s get to the service: It was abysmal. Let’s start with the menu. As with any Osteria, there is a big focus on their wines, followed by the food menu. The wine menu consist of a large selection of wines, each with a detailed description and a price by bottle and by glass. However our server did not explain that these wines are not really available per glass until we actually tried to order. He pointed then to a shorter list of wines, however which didn’t include a description. We were able to find good options of wines to drink, but it made a bit harder. For the actual service of wine and food, it took our server a good 15 min to serve the drinks. After waiting another 45 min for our food we had to first complain to our server and then another 15 min later to management. We were given different stories (one of them a full-on lie) on why we had not yet received our food, in the end it took more than 1 1/2 hours after arriving at the restaurant to get our food served. It really overly soured our experience at the Osteria Novecento. To be fair, restaurant management did not charge us for the desserts which was an offer that...
Read moreWe had a reservation for 8 people since it was my father’s birthday. When we came here, they acted like they didn’t know there was a reservation and said “oh just sit there”. I asked if they had something like candles for on the dessert, unfortunately they did not. Our appetizers came quickly, but we waited 2 HOURS before our main dishes came. We mentioned this and it was after that, that they came with the food quickly. Some dishes were oke, some just were too dry. When we mentioned this to the waitress, she had the most ridiculous comment, and I quote “a tip for if you come to other restaurants, yell at us, scream at us if something is wrong with your food. Otherwise we would not know if it’s bad” We told her we waited for two hours and that we did not want to send our food back because it already took so long for it to come in the first place. I do NOT want to “scream” at a waiter because my food is bad, it should be good in the first place. She also said “yeah you waited for two hours, but look how busy it is” Sorry, but you are taking on so many people while you can’t handle it. The whole experience of the 60th birthday was ruined! If it wasn’t for the waitress who made these comments, I would not even have made this review. Those were just insane comments to make as a waitress. We have our own hospitality branch, so it was hilarious that someone would even dare to make those remarks...
