We were told this is the oldest restaurant in Münster. And we felt transported back in time with the decor and uniform of the servers. Even the plates and the napkins were printed with the restaurant name, so you know they are serious about their food. We had the roasted pork knuckle which came with roast potatoes and sauerkraut. And the chicken schnitzel which came with fries and some lettuce in white cream dressing. Everything was fantastic except for the fries which was quite dry. We also tried the pinkus muller altbier with fruits which was excellent, I would recommend this for non-drinkers. For dessert, only left with hazelnut cream which was rich. Service was good considering the restaurant was full house. If you don't have a reservation, be prepared to wait up till 45mins for a table or worse turned away . We were in Munster city just for the weekend and lucky to be able to get a table on Sat night. A must try dining experience if you are in...
Read moreA very traditional restaurant and bar close to the city center.
We went there on a Saturday evening, so we knew it was gonna be crowded. But the waiter said he puts us on a list and we can get some beers and wait at the bar for 30 minutes. We waited a bit longer and the first beers took pretty long (around 30 minutes). The second round of beers came pretty fast afterwards.
We all ordered the Haxe with Sauerkraut and Bratkartoffeln. The food arrived pretty fast, maximum 15 minutes wait time. The crust of the Haxe was crispy and delicious. The meat was tender and well spiced. The Bratkartoffeln were nice and served with Bacon and onions. The sauerkraut was Really good too and complimented the dish.
I would definitely recommend that place. But either reserve a table before or go not on the weekend. So it's...
Read moreProbably book in advance if you don't want to wait in crowded bar with minimal standing space, but it's part of the experience. The staff waiting tables were extremely busy. Our waitress was unfriendly to the point that it was funny but it was all part of the experience too, so no star lost for that. The food and desserts were excellent and big portions too so 5 stars for that too, however my issue with the restaurant was that the English menu is 4 pages shorter than the German menu. We kept a German menu when our server reluctantly grabbed the English ones for us and there are far fewer items on the English, which was strange. Still a great restaurant and would recommend anyone to go for a traditional...
