Yenat Restaurant in Mannheim is an absolute standout and has quickly become one of my favorite dining experiences in Mannheim this year, deserving a full 5 out of 5 stars.
From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat. The food was incredibly tasty, with generous portions that left me more than satisfied. Every dish was packed with flavors that transported me straight to Africa, making for a truly memorable meal.
I particularly enjoyed the African beer, which was a perfect accompaniment to the flavorful dishes. The drinks were not only tasty but also added an authentic touch to the dining experience. It’s clear that Yenat takes pride in offering a genuine taste of African cuisine.

The menu is small and to the point, a handful of starters and then the main which is a pancake-like soft spongey dough and a selection of sauces, meats and vegetables.
We had the samosas which are probably the best I've had. Crunchy and full of flavour and spices. Really perfect.
For the main, we got the mixed platter for 2 which comes with a bit of everything. The combination of the sour green beans and the spices on the curried lentils and chicken are a match made in heaven. We used the pancake to sandwich the fillings, but you can also eat with a fork.

Read moreWe went in for a quick bite after driving from Netherlands to Germany. Helped quickly by a very friendly hostess. The menu doesn't have that many options but all looks genuine Ethiopian and we got some of everything (recommend it, for 2 persons minimum).
The food was all very interesting, I will say it won't be my favorite cuisine but the experience of eating by hand and trying all the flavours was wonderful and fun. We ate a lot which is a good sign.
