Mannheim Baroque Palace — Attraction in Mannheim

I enjoyed it so much!

The experience starts on the sidewalk looking in. The court yard is impressive and the palace just feels, homey, if it makes sense.

The entrance was 9 euros and I received an electronic guide in English which was surprisingly amazing. The information was interesting and it was read in an engaging way. Also, it was usually accompanied by baroque music.

Before starting the 'tour' you need to leave your bag at a locker room, so make sure you have a 1 or 2 euro coin. You will get it back when you leave.

Inside the palace you can enjoy both the rooms and the architecture, but also pieces of furniture and artifacts.

There are several rooms, and several floors. One of the rooms is an interactive music room. You get a pair of headphones and can plug them in at different stations and listen to music and explanations. However - the explanations are in German. I didn't see an option to hear it in English.

It is just the right size - enough to see without getting tired or bored, and leaving wanting more.

Person on reception is very bad. Near 50 years old person in a grey shirt with glasses. He said that we receive some money from Germany but we come here like tourist and never receive any money from German government. This museum put Ukrainian flag on the top of the building but they never support Ukraine. All another museums in Mainheim support Ukraine, give to all Ukranians free tickets, hotels on Mainheim give discounts for Ukrainian refuges.

When we come back to search administration. He said that he work here bur he do not say his name. When we say that we will tall about this situation with administration he give apologies but the better apologies will be if administration take off his salary for this month from him and send this to support Ukrainian army. Administration must give him money punishment and a lesson of a good maners with clients. Ein phänomenaler Prachtbau. Mega toll von aussen. Dafür etwas ernüchtern von innen. Einen Park, der zur Schlossanlage gehört sucht man leider vergeblich. Da fährt die Bahn. Ich hab eine Führung gebucht. War die Einzige und hab wirklich ne Privatführung bekommen. Sie war toll. Der Herr, der die Besichtigung mit mir gemacht hat, war so voller Leidenschaft. Es hat viel Spass gemacht. Aus 1 Stunde sind dann auch 2 Stunden geworden. Nur noch der mittlere Hauptbau ist zu besichtigen, wurde rekonstruiert. In den Flügeln und auch in der 2.Etage des Hauptbaus ist die Uni/Bibliothek drin. Es ist leider sehr wenig in den Prunkräumen vorhanden. Die Decken sind kahl, ausser in 3 Räumen. Leider wurden diese nicht rekonstruiert. Die Wände und Türen sehr schlicht in hellgrau gestrichen. Geht ehrlich gesagt gar nicht. Es sind irgendwelche schlichten Vorhänge hingehängt worden und schlichte Farbe an die Wände gemalt. Ein paar Möbelstücke sind vorhanden, allerdings nicht unbedingt original aus dem Hause. Mir wurde auch heute erzählt, das leider sehr viele Gegenstände im privaten Besitz sind, irgendwo auf der Welt. Und das vor einiger Zeit diverse Stücke bei Sotheby's versteigert wurden. Da das Museum aber nicht genug Geld zur Verfügung hatte, konnteman nicht tätig werden. Es wird soviel Geld in Deutschland, wirklich für Schwachsinn zum Fenster rausgeschmissen, meist nur weil Gelder weg müssen, für irgendwelche Statistiken oder wofür auch immer. Und für unsere Geschichte, unsere Ahnen haben wir kein Geld über? Verstehe ich nicht! Wir sollten uns glücklich schätzen, das es so etwas überhaupt gibt.
