I went here around 6 pm on May 24th when a few people were dining in, expecting some pho and soup, but the overall experience was disappointing. First, the beef on the pho is too thick and dry, like it's overcooked. Second, the crispy duck in the summer roll is not crispy at all, and the meat is hard to bite off because of the duck skin. It tastes like a boiled or steamed duck and the meat is also dry. The third and most disgusting thing is I found a dead insect in the pho soup after I finished the rice noodles and even drank some of the soup. I didn't see it before maybe it's because the insect body is covered under the beef and noodles. I complained to the owner and only got a reply "It's just a small insect and you already ate all the pho so you have to pay". Of course, I know I have to pay for what I eat, but this situation is different. If I found the insect before eating, I wouldn't touch the food at all and I wouldn't eat in this restaurant at all. How come "the insect is small" made me the bad person here? It sounded like I wasn't supposed to complain about this and get the price deduction. I was mentally hurt when I saw the insect body not only because it might carry bacteria or anything worse, but I didn't know if I had already swallowed some insects when I ate the pho or other dishes, we never know. To be honest I didn't want to pay for the pho but all I got for the complaint was paying half the price for the pho (3 euro less) and the rude attitude from the owner. I don't know how they got 4.7/5 with this kind of service. I leave a +1 star just for the boy who's serving me with patience and...

Visited this place on 14 December 2022, it was snowing.

Ordered (no. 2) Wontons soup homemade dumplings filled with chicken, prawns and vegetables (€5.50) & (SP 17) Friends of the sea (€18.50).

Wontons soup sadly only had one whole dumpling (cut into half and it didn’t taste homemade to me) & plenty of vegetables. Soup was tasty. But overall, I felt the portion was not worth the price. Not recommended.

However…

Friend’s of the sea was superb. Thick salmon fillet towering over 3 succulent prawns (peeled to the tail), a juicy scallop (good but not best in flavor) and plenty of vegetables soaked in fragrant (and slightly on the sweeter side) red coconut curry. It suited my palate such that I almost cleaned the whole pot!

Service was prompt and Friend’s of the sea is my best friend as well.

Totally recommend this restaurant if you are nearby (it is quite near to BMW museum) and definitely this dish - Friend’s of the sea.

Hope if can be your...

This is a wonderful restaurant within walking distance from the BMW Welt. The flavored ice teas include fresh fruit, fresh mint, and delicate flavors such as lime, ginger, orange zest. The summer rolls included mango, avocado along with fresh greens. The papaya salad is not to be missed with sliced chili. I think the biggest surprise for us was the delicately flavored sauces for all the dishes, whether it was curry, papaya salad dressing , dipping sauce, the freshness of all the ingredients and the care and presentation by the restaurant staff and cooks. This was an especially nice meal after delicious (but heavy) diet of traditionally...

Unfortuantely despite the good reviews I only found this place average. Pho (3/5): broth too oily, missing thai basil / mint / coriander leaves, Bo La Lot (1/5): This was very bad, they used the boiled pho slices to fill it instead of grilled minced meat, it tasted awful and was very chewy, Goi Cuon (4/5): Pretty good if maybe a bit too big, Bun Bo (3/5): Nothing special. Ambience and service is nice. Alltogether 3/5 is fair, it is no better than the average vietnamese places in Munich.
