Sea Life Munich is an aquarium, directly aimed at kids. Of course as an adult you may find pleasure seeing the underwater world and still feel amazed by it—I did. However, you should know that there are more kids than the number of fish here. They are everywhere, they are screaming and their whole topic is “sharks”. They actually have a highly motivated team there, trying to teach kids about the underwater world with stories, games, quizzes—but they are only focused on the sharks. So be ready to hear every 10 seconds something about the sharks. The kids will tap on the aquarium glasses and the parents won’t stop them. The place is like an Ikea maze you need to follow and every now and then families will stop in the middle of a tiny passage and you will get stuck while the kids will sneeze, cough, yell and ask: “is that a shark?” to every little thing they see. It’s quite exhausting for 21,50 €. Also, don’t bother buying your ticket online. You will still join the queue and wait while people who did not buy their ticket online will do their purchase slowly. Once it’s your turn (after around 35 mins) they will scan your online ticket in 1 second and you will be able to enter. I’m sure in summer the waiting times are even longer. So if you have kids, bring them here to soothe their thirst for sharks. If you’re an adult and you like underwater world, try another one in another city. This place will only make you go crazy. The best part of Sea Life Munich is when you leave and you come out to the amazing park by the lake. Try some coffee and sit there next to the ducks and swans. It’s magical. The staff was super friendly and clearly they take good care of all the fauna...

Read moreWe visited on my girlfriend’s birthday, which was a great deal since entrance is free on that day! At the counter, the staff even asked her to roll a little wheel/game and she won a voucher for a hot drink — a nice surprise and a thoughtful touch.
The aquarium itself is clearly designed as a family attraction, with plenty for kids to enjoy. If you prefer a quieter visit to really take your time observing the species, it’s best to avoid weekends or school holidays when it can get crowded.
One thing to note: there is no baggage storage at Sealife. However, on the way there you can leave your bags at the BMW Welt basement, which has free digital lockers with 4-digit codes, accessible during opening hours. Very convenient if you’re traveling with luggage.
That said, without discounts, the ticket price feels a bit steep considering the size of the aquarium. It’s relatively small and the variety is somewhat limited — focusing more on freshwater and river species rather than larger sea animals. Don’t expect to see octopus, whales, or big jellyfish here.
Overall, it’s a pleasant experience, especially for families with children, but for the price, I had hoped for a broader range of...
