Drei Mühlen: A Taste of Authentic Bavarian Hospitality 🍻
Drei Mühlen, nestled in Munich, offers a quintessential Bavarian Wirtshaus experience that's both authentic and inviting. This traditional eatery, known for its hearty portions and connection to Augustiner beer, consistently delivers a satisfying meal for both locals and visitors.
One of the standout features of Drei Mühlen is its commitment to authentic Bavarian cuisine. Expect classic dishes like schnitzel (with various preparations, including the "Drei Mühlen" style), robust roasts, and a variety of sausages, all prepared with a traditional touch. The overall consensus is that the food is very good and truly representative of the region.
The atmosphere at Drei Mühlen is typically Bavarian – lively, a bit chaotic at times (especially when busy), but ultimately welcoming. For those seeking a quieter experience, there's often a hidden courtyard accessible through the building, a real gem for a more relaxed meal. The staff is generally friendly and attentive, contributing to the overall positive dining experience.
Of course, no Bavarian Wirtshaus review would be complete without mentioning the beer. As an Augustiner establishment, Drei Mühlen offers excellent beer, a perfect accompaniment to the rich, traditional fare.
Pros: Authentic Bavarian Cuisine: Generous portions of classic dishes. Augustiner Beer: Excellent selection of one of Munich's beloved breweries. Traditional Atmosphere: A genuine Wirtshaus feel, often bustling with locals. Hidden Courtyard: A quiet alternative for outdoor dining. Convenient Location: Easily accessible by public transport (S2 to Petershausen/Altomünster).
Considerations: Can be busy: Especially during peak hours, it might be a bit chaotic.
Overall: Drei Mühlen is a solid choice for anyone seeking an authentic and satisfying Bavarian dining experience in Munich. Whether you're craving a traditional schnitzel with a cold Augustiner, or simply want to soak in the local atmosphere, Drei Mühlen delivers. It's a place where you can expect good food, good beer, and a genuine...
Read moreThe hotel concierge listed this as one of four places he recommended, so I decided to Uber it to the restaurant. It was a Tuesday night and I was happy to see there was no line. I could also see several empty spots at the bar. The waiter who greeted me was perhaps the rudest server I've ever experienced in all my (extensive world) travels. He waived his hands NO, claiming everything was booked. He didn't even give me a chance to wait, which I would have gladly done. I'm sure something would have opened up. I definitely got an anti-foreigner vibe. I let the concierge know and he's taking them off his list. If you're a tourist don't waste a taxi/Uber ride to this place. In all my time reviewing, I've never felt compelled to leave a 1 star review, until now. Definitely...
Read moreWow, just great. We went in at 4:30pm without a reservation and Tobias and Camila bent over backwards to find us a spot; they even switched around the seating chart a bit. Tobias was friendly, patient, and always smiling. He really made us feel welcome. He gave us terrific recommendations off the menu, too. We were a group of four who ordered two of the schnitzel trilogies and they were incredible. It was plenty of food to share. We scarfed down our food so fast, there was barely time for a photo. Hard to say whether the food or the service was better. After meals in four different European cities on this vacation, this meal was our favorite. Do come here and enjoy the warm atmosphere...
