El Perro — Restaurant in Munich

Tonight my wife and I decided to try this restaurant. We had a plate of 6 cold tapas, which tasted reasonably good. Nothing that would blow your mind though.

Their sangria this evening was highly acidic and had a heavy orange-flavour. We ordered the lemon sole, which was supposed to be served with olive oil and fresh herbs. The fish was unbelievably bland and rubbery. Certainly not the 'catch of the day'. Even the plain, microwaved-tasting rice had more flavour!

After that, we decided to give them one more chance with the dessert (which took about 30min!): a simple Crema Catalana. Now, despite me having eaten this delicious dessert in Barcelona, I tried not to be overly critical. However, my wife's Crema Catalana had the raw, brown sugar sticking to the sides and covered parts of the creme brûlée. It was NOT even caramelised properly!

Utterly disappointing dinner (apart from the average tapas). Bad value-for-money! Plus, with other excellent Spanish restaurants in town (e.g. Itxaso), I doubt we'll return...

I'd been searching around for a place to eat and happened upon this place, a Spanish restaurant, which took credit card (many places in Germany don't).

It was quite full but I was invited to take a seat up at the bar. They didn't have Wifi and I managed to make use of their socket behind the counter to charge a device. All staff looked pretty busy there, but no meals seemed to be held up - I've a feeling when full they staff are run ragged.

The beer was nice and refreshing; was offered bread whilst I waited but had to ask for oil and balsamic (they weren't laid out on the bar). I opted for a tuna meal which came with peppers and other fresh crispy veg with a delicious ginger/lime drizzle. I'd have happily eaten a larger plate of that, but it sufficed for a snack - I finished up with more breads and oil to soak up a second beer.

It was fine for a bite, and next time I'm in the area I'll certainly look...

Google review asks us to write an experience of this place. My experience involved great food, a great atmosphere, great service and kind waiters. What is also includes is an experience that happened the day after - I have forgotten something valuable at the restaurant. I started calling early morning, outside of business hours. At some point my call seemed to be forwarded and a kind gentleman answered. He not only offered to drive to the restaurant outside of his business hours to look for my item - but when he found it, offered to drive it all the way to where I lived. He did not accept any money as a thank you and even was inquiring if I had a good evening and good time at the restaurant. This is what I call kindness and going the extra...
