La Sophia — Restaurant in Munich

Tldr; Such an unfortunate waste of a pretty nice location!... Worst experience in Munich for about years. Bad service, worse food, the worst try to rip us off with extra money.

We had to wait about 40-45 minutes for the waitress to come (no, wasn't crowded or super busy). When we finally ordered, it took about another 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive. We're at 1 hour waiting at this point, super hungry, slightly disappointed but still hopeful that the food will compensate. After another 30 mins and about 1.5 hours total waiting, our dinner comes. Mine was lukewarm and mediocre. My friends' was cold (after 1.5 hours waiting) and also mediocre. Unfortunately at this point we're so hungry and it's later in the evening, that we decide to consume it. When the waitress comes again, to take the plates, for her question, we share with her that the dinner was cold and underwhelming, she says "oh, that's unfortunate" and leaves us 😂 Never during the night she came (without waving her down) and asked us if we want more drinks. We finish our drinks, wait another 20 minutes for the waitress to bring the bill so we can pay. She arrives only with the card reading machine, no bill, and verbally tells us the total amount we need to pay. Once that's done, she comes back, bringing the bill where we finally can see what we paid for. Guess what.. we also paid for something that we didn't have! When we waved her again to come, she knew immediately, wasn't surprised about the extra item on the bill -- didn't seem like it was an honest mistake. They gave back the money for the item we didn't eat in cash when we specifically asked for it. Our dissatisfaction grew during the night, we also mentioned that the food wasn't good, and at no point was offered any compensation (like not necessarily monetary thing but anything really, a coffee, or a dessert, or a glass of drink - as a gesture), it was somehow totally okay that they serve cold, tasteless...

Unverschämter und respektloser Chef – nie wieder!!!!!!!!

Meine Familie und ich waren bisher regelmäßige Gäste im Café La Sofia. Ich habe oft meine Freundinnen mit ihren Kindern hierher eingeladen, weil ich dachte, dass es ein familienfreundlicher Ort sei. Doch nach meinem letzten Besuch werde ich dieses Café nie wieder betreten und auch niemandem mehr empfehlen.

Mein 2,5-jähriges Kind kam mehrmals an unseren Tisch und ging dann wieder zum Spielplatz – etwas völlig Normales für ein Kleinkind in einem Café mit einer Kinderecke. Doch genau das hat den Chef des Restaurants gestört. Plötzlich wurde ich auf eine unhöfliche und unangemessene Weise zurechtgewiesen.

Ich erklärte ihm, dass ich gerade esse, woraufhin er mir in einem absolut respektlosen Ton sagte, dass ich sofort aufhören soll zu essen, meinen Mann am Tisch lassen und mit meinem Kind auf dem Spielplatz sitzen muss. Ehrlich gesagt, wenn ich einfach nur auf einem Spielplatz sitzen will, dann kann ich das überall tun – dafür muss ich nicht in sein Café kommen und Geld ausgeben.

Ich sagte ihm, dass ein Café, das sich als kinderfreundlich bezeichnet, auch damit rechnen muss, dass Kinder sich frei bewegen. Es ist völlig normal, dass sie zwischen dem Tisch der Eltern und dem Spielbereich hin- und herlaufen. Wenn ihn das so sehr stört, dann sollte er entweder den Zutritt für Kinder verbieten oder lernen, mit kleinen Gästen respektvoll umzugehen.

Daraufhin sagte ich ihm klar: „Sie haben kein Recht, mir solche Vorschriften zu machen oder mich für das Verhalten meines Kindes zu kritisieren.“ Seine Antwort? „Ich darf alles.“

Daraufhin sagte ich ihm ebenso deutlich: „Und ich darf auch alles.“

Es ist einfach unfassbar! Nur weil man ein Restaurant besitzt, gibt einem das nicht das Recht, Gäste so respektlos zu behandeln. So geht man nicht mit Kunden um – schon gar nicht mit Stammkunden, die regelmäßig hier waren und das Café weiterempfohlen haben.

Meine Familie war tief verletzt von dieser respektlosen und überheblichen Art. Nach diesem Vorfall werde ich dieses Café nie wieder betreten und auch meinen Freunden davon abraten. Es gibt genügend andere Orte, an denen Gäste mit Respekt...

Unfortunately we had a very bad experience. They had no pizzas, which leaves you with essentially only pasta option or salad. But the worst is the service. 20 minutes for bringing any drink. Moreover, one food dish took 90 minutes (yes one and a half hours) and NEVER CAME. The waiter just said the kitchen were not making it and did not know why and could not provide an answer. Our pregnant friend was not able to have lunch! I have never experienced such a thing in a restaurant. I am unsure where the 4,5 stars are coming from. Would not recommend and would not go back. I regret we chose this restaurant for celebrating the baby shower of my friend, it was a bad...
