Eclectic cute decor, awful food.

I live in the neighborhood and headed over for a Saturday morning breakfast, based on the looks of Marais and the apparently good reviews.

The decor is fun and eclectic - think 1970s haberdashery. The service is friendly. But the food was inedible.

Dish 1 was fried eggs. It look like they had been made in an old filthy frying pan. The bottom of the eggs was burned. Some ham had been tossed in, but partly clumped on one side.

Dish 2 was scrambled eggs. It was a yellow congealed mass. With some liquid (maybe margarine?) floating on the surface. An awful after taste.

Dish 3 was a croissant. This was edible, but tasted like it came out of a three day old plaster package.

The cappuccino tasted like instant coffee topped with a bit of milk foam.

While I would like to give more stars for the good service and decor, at the end, this is a restaurant. Food matters. If the food is so awful there is no...

The atmosphere is unique, and their paninis are great! Coffee is a bit pricey but decent. The place is very popular and packed on weekends, so expect some waiting time for your order.

However, the service was disappointing. We were seated at a table with two small babies, and there was a note indicating the table was available for the next four hours.

While we were still enjoying our meal, a waitress placed another note on our table stating there was another reservation in 15 minutes—without any explanation or communication. It felt rude and impersonal.

We continued eating, as we still had food on the table, and soon after, the waitress silently removed the note again—without saying a word. If they had simply spoken to us and explained the situation, we would have understood. Communication is key in hospitality, and this experience left a...

I was disappointed by this café despite the excellent reviews. When I went in to pay, I was told that my 1 cappuccino would cost €7.70, even though it stated on the menu that it cost €3.80. Although very surprised, I initially payed with a 10€ bill and furthermore received the incorrect change. I left very disappointed, before deciding to come back and question the transaction. The lady claimed that she thought I had ordered something else with the cappuccino (but had not asked me what), and then suggested that I had ordered 2 cappucinos - which would in any case have corresponded to less than the sum she asked me for. She then promised to give me back €3.80 but in fact shortchanged me again, giving me back €3.60. Although it was a pleasant café and the coffee was nice, I would recommend checking your...

The place got pretty crowded on a Saturday morning. We arrived having made a reservation but apparently it was not written down on their end. We explicitly asked for a table by the window. They were however nice enough to give us one after we addressed the issue and informed them we had asked for a table by the window. All in all the food was really good and the quality was high. The staff also tried to do it's best but they simply forgot to many things. It was 4 of us and they brought the scrambled eggs first and then after like 10 minutes the cheese plate came. They forgot the marmalade and the cooked egg. It was simply not organized well enough which destroyed the nice ambience. Indoor the restaurant has a lot of old fashioned furniture which gives it a nice look and feel. I might come back but on a less crowded day.

We visited on a Sunday evening, and though it was pretty packed, we were able to find a table for our group of 6-7 people. I ordered the goat cheese, zucchini, and aubergine panini, and it was delicious—definitely something I’ll order again. The bread was incredibly fresh, and the coffee was just as good. Both the macchiato and flat white had the perfect amount of milk. The place has a great aesthetic, with lots of small decorations, and they also sell various types of candy and small jewelry. Despite being busy, the service was quick, and all the waitresses spoke English and were very friendly. They also offer a nice variety of cakes, which looked tempting. Overall, it was a great experience, and this place has definitely earned a spot on my list of favorite coffee shops in Munich.

Lovely cafe with equally nice outdoor and indoor seating. Amazing cakes and out of that day's selection I had a hard time choosing just one. Coffee is also available in decaf, cappuccino was nicely made. Friendly and quick service. There's also a menu of meals and savory dishes besides the sweets. Inside they sell some postcards, jewelry and more. Very popular place and really worth a visit. Two coffees, a cake and pastry can add up to more than €18, I still found it worth the experience for the quality of food and the atmosphere. Update May 2024: I've already left 5 stars, but the rhubarb bauser cake was so spectacular I couldn't leave it unmentioned. Highly recommended and such a cozy place to have a cake, coffee and read the paper.
