It was a total disappointment to dine in this restaurant with staff who doesn’t respect customer’s taste and feedback. My friend and I ordered an appetiser to share, Vitello tonnato (beef with tuna sauce) was really delicious. We were looking forward to our simple carbonara and seafood linguini which in my opinion, can hardly be bad. Me and my friend politely highlighted to the staff that the pasta are both too salty and asked if we could have the same one but just less salty. The staff went ahead and accused us for adding the salt into the pasta. “I saw you added something into the pasta, that’s why it’s salty.” We added pepper, not salt. The other lady came and told us “our food is not salty, it is good. We’ve been here for so long and everyone loves it.” Yes, we too, were impressed by the good feedback and looked forward to it. The male staff came to me and said “ if you think this is salty, then you shouldn’t go to an Italian restaurant.” Seriously? I have been to so many amazing Italian restaurants all around the world. What’s wrong with it if your food is not up to my standard? You can’t force your customer to like your food when it is seriously not that good? Must every customer love your food the same and can’t even voice out their comments? The best part is they removed the dishes which we commented it’s too salty and came back with just a plate of Aglio Olio which I think it’s one of the worst I’ve ever had. The staff said “ We will just cook one for you to share, because we don’t like to waste food” Oh wow.. I am left speechless. How defensive and disrespectful these service staff are. The food can be bad and we will still come back but not when the service is horrible. There’s literally zero respect and gratitude for paying customers like us when they forced us to pay for the food we didn’t like. They actually have the audacity to include the meals that were rejected and left us feeling angry and hungry. We finished the aglio olio which according to the staff, it was already an additional gesture for us since they didn’t charge us for that. Still, we paid for 2 pasta and did not like it so they took them away, replaced with an “aglio olio”. How does it telly?
The rest of the food could be good judging from the photos and reviews. I am not here to attack or bully, just stated the experience I had which was not quite pleasant.
I am a service staff myself and I don’t expect everyone to love my food. There are bound to be reviews and feedback and we should respect and appreciate the comments and take it positively.
I have very good impression of German hospitality and the disappointment I’ve had with this restaurant is beyond words. I am still in disbelief that this actually happened in today’s world.
We should be proud with our products but not arrogant.
When customers are polite and nice, be kind. There’s no reason for a restaurant to mistreat paying customers in such a manner.
There wasn’t any service recovery done, maybe they think that they are always perfect with all the good reviews?
I don’t even care about the food quality, it is more about the service and experience. Not even a single apology was extended, instead they were being defensive and offended by our comments “too salty”. There was no humanity, respect and love which I’ve always seen in German society. Basically ruined our day but we paid anyway. But we will not condone with the nonsense that the ignorant staff put us through. Customers are always right as long as they are reasonable. But the staff disagreed with it. He said we are his guests so we have to accept what’s being served. Oh then please don’t throw the credit card machine in our face and force us to pay for the food we did not eat and certainly...
Read moreI do not write many reviews and has never written a negative one. This shall be my first. Seeing how the owners responded to previous negative feedback, I am not sure how they would react to this one. I hope they do appreciate that negative feedback is the best lesson one can have to improve themselves.
Dinner started well, the ambience in this restaurant was great the wait staff seemed friendly (initially). Me and my friend took a bit of time with our appetiser and the kitchen took the attention not to serve us our pastas till we were done with appetisers. Thumbs up for that.
However, things went quickly downhill. Our pastas (carbonara and linguine scampi) were way too salty. We told the waitress who then asked the chef to speak to us. He was obviously very unhappy and he took away our pastas. He said he could not replace our pastas and offered a plain spaghetti to be shared between me and my friend. We reluctantly agreed. The replacement pasta was only slightly less salty and we came to the conclusion that perhaps the water used to boil the pasta may be over salted.
When the bill came, we were charged for the two pastas we could not finish, or rather, which we had barely touched. When we asked for them to be removed, they got rather rude. I will leave out the things they said but I have never been treated like this in any restaurant I have been to. Its like paying money to feel disrespected. I do not think its right to be charged for the two pastas but the owners were adamant that their pastas were fine and we were the ones who were wrong. Perhaps its cultural differences? Perhaps its...
Read moreIf visiting Munich near the west side of the English Garden, the Osteria Sarda is a great little place for Italian fare that is inspired by the food of Sardinia. I ordered the special: goldbassenfillet vom grill mit spargel ragout under kartoffen and my wife ordered the scampi linguine. We both agreed that it was way above average Italian fare. The European bass was grilled skin-on and seemed at first quite salty until I realized that the Sardinian style is to heavily salt the skin before grilling skin-side down. This makes the skin very crispy and salty while adding the unctuous flavor of the collagen to the perfectly-cooked fillet. The skin was like salty, crunchy bits of flavor that balanced the mild, flaky, white fillet. The asparagus ragout was almost my favorite element of the dinner-flavorful and not overcooked. Best meal of our...
