Really lovely upscale restaurant. It's located in the ground floor of the Andaz Hotel (a Hyatt concept hotel), so expect a good amount of higher class guests here. We didn't notice a special dress code and felt perfectly welcome with our summerly attire.
Service: The head waiter was excellent in all categories. Very friendly, warm, professional and authentic. His drink recommendations were very good and any upselling attempts were always friendly and fitting, without being pushy. The other staff was professional and friendly but mostly kept in the background.
Food: Decent sized menu with good options, including vegan & vegetarian items. Both our starters were very good. The burrata was top quality and the mix of basil/salt lemon/peach made this a good choice for a summer evening. The TNT (hot&spicy) prawns fried in some nice crispy coating had a slight kick to them so would even be a good choice for someone who likes some but not too much spice. Personally, I could do with some more TNT - but taste wise, they were fantastic.
The mains were both good. The tartar was already prepped and was of high quality - but it was more on the salty side. The spider steak was grilled to perfection - I had asked for medium rare and I got it as ordered. The chimichurri and herbs were extra and was delicious. The Belgian fries were crispy and delicious, the truffle mayonnaise was great as well.
Drinks: All four cocktails that we've had were fantastic. Glassware was good as well. Nothing to complain here. Special thanks to the waiter who paid attention to my wife's taste profile and recommended just the right spritz type cocktail that wasn't on the menu.
Location: The terrace is on the backside of the hotel, so not situated directly next to the (big) road. The house offers shadow in the late afternoon/evening but there were sunshades as well. The outdoor chairs we sat in were very comfortable and not too narrow.
The inside looks modern and stylish. The restaurant has an open-kitchen concept, so you can watch the staff prepare your food. The interior is next to the hotel lobby, where you can find artwork, great interior design elements and the stairs down to the very clean, modern and generous bathrooms.
Prices: As this is catering more to the upclass, prices are definitely above-average. Cocktails were around the €15 mark each, a 0,75l bottle of water around €9, main courses between €30-50 each (with some more pricier options as well). You do get value for money though, as everything was really fulfilling or exceeding expectations - so, if the prices don't scare you, I can absolutely recommend this place. Thank you for hosting us, we really enjoyed...
Read moreI have to say our visit was a bit disappointing... I’ve been really hyped that there was a new meat orientated restaurant in Schwabing which also claimed to offer vegetarian dishes because my mother doesn’t like meat. First of all the restaurant is located on the ground floor of the Andaz hotel and the interior is very friendly and simple. The staff was super friendly and helped us with the right wine which was tasty. As a starter we had a special from a local butcher but it was basically a normal assorted cold cuts. As a main dish we had seasonal vegetables. For such a high class restaurant it’s not alright to serve seasonal vegetables just uncut and as a whole in a bowl without anything else as a main dish... The other main dish was the meat variations. It’s looked good and was tasty but it contained sausages and „Leberkäse“ which you normally get in a beergarden. The lamb was very good and the pork and beef was alright but for a meat specialised restaurant deficiently prepared. They offered sauces with this dish and we later saw on the bill that they costed 3,5€ per sauce ,would’ve been good to know in the first place. All in all I would love to come back to possibly taste a bigger cut. But definitely without a vegetarian person and without the...
Read moreWe had Christmas Eve dinner menu here and left pretty disappointed. There were good and bad parts of our experience, I’ll start with the good -
Friendly staff, lovely server. Nice ambiance. Food presentation was nice.
The bad, pretty much everything else. The food on the Christmas Eve menu sounded good in theory but the execution was totally off. Everything in the first course was mushy, absolutely no texture to balance out the mush. The main course took at least 30 minutes to arrive, and was also disappointing. The sides all tasted like cabbage, the brussel sprouts were way over cooked, the only thing that was ok was the bison and the pulled duck, but again everything tasted like cabbage. Desserts were beautiful to look at but tasted only ok. The best part of the dinner for us was the wine and the fresh fruit from the dessert bar… so basically nothing that was cooked.
I would love to try again because of all the good comments, but after spending nearly $300 euros on this dinner I don’t think...
