Marta — Restaurant in Munich

Last night my girlfriend and me went to the retaurant to have dinner and we had a really uncomfortable situation. The pizza was really good, all their food is tasty and really nice, but one of their old waiter treats us really bad. It first started when I told him that I couldn't speak german and that I can only speak english. He started to be really cold towards me and sweet to my gf who is german native. At first, we thought it was kind of racism, but he used some words that looked turkish. With the order, he was super nice to her but with me he almost even could look at me. I asked if he could recommend me a dish and without looking at me he answered with a bit of contempt "I don't know, order whatever". Later I was looking for the bathroom and he was resting in the bar counter and I said "excuse me". He didn't answer. I asked him a second time and then without looking at me and with a sarcastic voice he answered "yes, sir?". I asked if he could tell me where is the bathroom and still without looking at me he pointed with his finger the direction. He didn't say a word, he never looked at me. During the dinner my gf was telling me she was being uncomfortable because every time he was coming he was only talking to her in german and even trying to flirt with her, what was making her feer uncomfortable (he knew I couldn't understand nothing). The last one was when she asked if she could take the rest of the pizza home and he answered her "yes, but give me your adress and phone" also in german. This behaviour is entirely unacceptable. She got blocked and couldn't answer him because all his behaviour was inappropiate.

Pretty dining ambience but terrible service even to a solo diner. Ordered a cocktail. a starter and a main. Cocktail and starter came promptly and cocktail tasted good, but had to wait 40 minutes after finishing starter and still no service staff checked on me or cleared my starter. Had to get the attention of the floor manager but he just nodded and walked away. He got a colleague to check on me instead and I said I was waiting for my main course (risotto). 20 minutes later a plate of risotto finally arrived but it was not the one I ordered. Informed the staff it was the wrong dish and if she could get the floor manager who took my order to come and clarify but was subsequently ignored. Staff told me I had to wait longer if I wanted to change the risotto and I replied I have already waited an hour. No apologies or comments from them. The correct dish came around 15 minutes later. Thank god it was faster than the previous 1 hour wait.

Getting the bill took a bit longer than 15 minutes.

I generally tolerate mediocre service standards pretty well and I understand that the restaurant was busy but and having dined alone I was a fuss-free customer but this experience was truly unacceptable. What was supposed to be an enjoyable casual dinner turned out to be a 3 hours long dinner with more than half the time waiting. I also would like to highlight the floor manager’s service was terrible - he did not utter a word of acknowledgement, just nodded to me whenever I ordered or requested for my bill/main course. I hope this is not because I am the only Asian in the restaurant and he could just brush me...

(On a rating of 5): ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (2,6) Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (2) We weren’t impressed with what we got. While the peach, prosciutto and burrata salad was very tasty, it’s hard to judge a dish that’s made of 4 ingredients + balsamic sauce. You simple can’t go wrong with burrata, tomato and balsamic sauce. @cnicolejung on the other hand had a pizza and due to the cheese it was a little watery which is fair but compared to other pizzas this one just didn’t impress us. The tiramisu was great

Ambiance: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4) Principally it’s a nice place to sit outside at in the evening. The neighborhood is calm and gives a modern and lively feeling because there’s also lots of other restaurants near it. We didn’t see it from the inside so simply based on the outside, the ambiance was pretty nice. Only thing is, the lighting choice was a little odd.

Service: ⭐️⭐️ (2) We we’re disappointed. I arrived earlier and waited for 15 min alone and not once was I asked if maybe I wanted to order a drink or have some bread to munch on. Also after Nicole arrived it took longer than typically used to to order our food. This was the situation the entire night long. Another big factor that left a bad taste behind was when we paid for our food: the waiter basically gave himself a +10% tip, and having been waitresses ourselves once, and given the subpar treatment that evening, that’s simply not acceptable.
