Very good to Thai restaurant with a European flair! If you're not the most adventurous type (like most Bavarians I know), but still love foreign food, this is the place to go for Thai. The food is excellent, the staff is friendly, and the alcohol free cocktails are a great deal at happy hour.
Just be warned that meals during dinner are expensive, with main dishes starting at 13€ for noodle or vegetarian dishes and ending at 20-22€ for beef and seafood (chicken sits at around 16€). And you WILL spend more than you think. Saying no to dessert after a great meal is nearly impossible here ;) And the presentation alone is worth noting, since everything is served beautifully.
However, also be warned that the flavors here are subtle. If you're in the mood for flavor explosions, this may not be the place to go. That's not to say it isn't tasty; it's some of the best food I've had lately. There just are days where you may want a bombastic pepperoni pizza instead, you know?
All that being said, this place is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Munich and the best Thai restaurant I've been to so far. I just can't go often since as a student, paying ~25€ (or more) for dinner is pretty steep. Give their lunch menu a shot if you want to save some money.
I personally can recommend their green curry dishes (the beef is great!) and the roti desert is excellent (the mango ice cream seems to be sorbet though, which I don't mind at all). The papaya salad (Som Tam Thai?) is my girlfriend's favorite and the mocktails with coconut are all great. And give the spring rolls a shot if you want to try something slightly different than the typical Chinese version.
The tofu dishes weren't my favorite, though I don't usually like tofu anyway.
All in all a great experience and I definitely can recommend it, if you are fine...
Read moreHaving read the other super positive reviews, I think our visit was a case of too high expectations. It's not that any of what we experienced was bad - and most of it was pretty decent - but we were let down by the flavours a little bit. The interior is nice, and the service friendly. The owner himself makes an extra effort to share his recommendations and elaborate on the spice levels. So for everything else, excluding food, I would happily give four stars (-1 because it was a bit chilly while we waited for our food and more diners to arrive).
However, the food itself was not the parade of flavours that I have experienced at other great Thai places, and it wasn't so much a matter of heat. Even the 3rd spiciest option was hardly hot at all, but that's to be expected in München, where the average idea of 'spicy' is 'ketchup'. It's just that leaving the heat level aside, all the flavours fell a bit flat and while everything tasted 'nice', there wasn't a lot of excitement or depth. It may well be that we didn't pick the most exciting options, but tom kha gai and green and red curry...
Read moreI was there last week after 3 years past. Realizing that it was take over by new owner. I would like to share how terrible thai cusine taste I ever have in my life. That day i ordered 2 dishes which was Duck basil and Yum woon sen. The taste was very suck, both of dishes were very super salty. I asked to change Duck basil, after re-cooking it was still salty. They just added more veg and some broth. It was supposed to cook the new one coz this kind of dish could not recook. I was so disappointed with the taste and service recovery. Eventhough i was so starving, i didn't even touch the 2nd round of Duck basil. Trust me if you don't want to be disappointed, don't waste your time and money to even enter to this restaurant. It is like the new chef training, it used to be one of my favourite thai restaurant named Kanittha. I...
