Paulaner's Wirtshaus & Biergarten — Restaurant in Munich

The Paulaner Restaurant, located in the Westin Munich Hotel, offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere with traditional Bavarian decor. However, the prices are quite steep, and the quality of the food may not always match the price tag.

Found this gem whilst staying at The Westin Grand Munich

We opted for dinner one night as travelling with an infant can make navigating a place for dinner hard. So glad we had dinner here.

Husband ordered the half pork knuckle, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Thought it was excellent. I opted for a special from their Oktoberfest menu that week (featured mushrooms and veal) and it was divine! I shared this with our son who quickly ate all the mushrooms.

Paired with a large stein, and pear brandy. It was an excellent dinner.

If we were in the locality of Munich again, we wouldn't hesitate to come back, and will recommend this to everyone travelling.

Special thanks to the staff that night as well. Our son was overly tired and started crying, but no one batted an eyelid. So a massive...

Update 2023: Das Wiener Schnitzel kostet mittlerweile 33% mehr (32,50 EUR); sprich über 10% Preissteigerung pro Jahr! - kann aber immer noch nichts. Eine fluffige Panade ist etwas anderes! Der Kaiserschmarrn war heute, wie damals (erste Bewertung aus dem Jahr 2020), einfach ein dicker Pfannkuchen, der in Stücke zerschnitten worden ist. Update 2023 Ende.

Also den begeisterten Bewertungen hier, kann ich mich wirklich nicht anschließen und ich kann sie einfach nicht nachvollziehen. Zunächst mal finde ich es schon gewagt, daß bei google €€ angegeben ist. Bei 24,50 EUR für ein Wiener Schnitzel und den anderen Preisen, fände ich drei Eurozeichen schon angebrachter. Sei's drum, wenn die Qualität passen würde, dann wären auch die Preise gerechtfertigt, bzw. für ein Lokal in einem 5 Sterne-Hause angemessen. Tut sie aber nicht. Ich war bereits drei Mal im Paulaner's beim Essen und ich und alle meine Freunde waren jeweils nicht begeistert. Meiner Meinung nach, handelt es sich um ein strukturelles Problem in der Küche. Die Gulaschsuppe war so schlecht (sie hat im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes nach nichts (!) geschmeckt), daß ich sie zurückgehen ließ. Ähnliches bekommt man mit der Kartoffelsuppe vorgesetzt; mit viel Salz und gutem Willen, gerade noch eßbar. Das Wiener Schnitzel ist noch okay, die Bratkartoffeln (beim ersten Versuch) waren labbrig und nicht kroß, die Pommes beim zweiten Versuch waren etwas besser. Das Fleischpflanzerl (eher eine Hackbraten) ist ebenfalls belanglos und die beigegebenen Salate sind langweilig. Ach ja, der Kaiserschmarrn war trocken und weder fluffig, noch schmackhaft; hinzukam, daß wir ohne Rosinen bestellt hatten und als Fleißaufgabe erstmal die Rosinen rauspicken durften.

Die Kellner sprechen übrigens relativ wenig Englisch, was für so ein Haus auch nicht besonders...
