Trachtenvogl has been suggested a number of times before and I can see why.
The decor is very nice, homey and relaxed, the menu has a great selection of food and drinks which are different to any other menu I've seen around town and it'sso dog-friendly.
I had the Spinatbrezenknödel which is incredibly tasty, albeit it very rich. My friend had sweet potato with pea and mint cream and also raved about how good it was. The portions are quite sizeable, so we couldn't finish, but at the same time it was hard to stop.
The service I found to be a breath of fresh air. Unlike most other restaurants in the city, there was often a waiter around whom we could flag down for drinks, to take our food order and then to pay.
The only downside here is the short time frame that tables are booked for, so one can't really spend too much time catching up with friends or family before you need to clear the table for the next customers. But definitely...
Read moreI recently discovered this lovely and cozy restaurant near an U-bahn station The place is very inviting and has a warm atmosphere There is a nice selection of handmade cakes on display (they are not listed in the menu) They offer sandwiches, pasta dishes, soups, salads, etc
The girl that was serving our table (Valeria, from Chile) was extremely helpful and friendly and chatted with us and explained the content of some dishes
We ate at a large table in front of the counter and really enjoyed most of the food. Especially the cakes I had a quiche with mushrooms. This one was not so flavorful but I liked the salad and the lemon cheesecake was my favorite
It is only possible to pay with a card here It is very easy to get to the place and you normally don't need a reservation but depending on the day of the week and time, it may be hard...
Read moreJust a minute walk from the Fraunhoferstraße U-Bahn station. I decided to sit outside even though it's winter with windy weather, because it was full inside. My mistake, as the service for us brave enough to bear the wind wasn't as good. Servers simply didn't come as often (maybe they didn't want to feel cold). I ordered the Haferl Kaffee (3,60) which was generous and tasted ok, but got cold pretty quickly (my fault as I was outside). Then I ordered a piece of the Himbeeretrufel. Excellent choice! Creamy with not so dominating hints of raspberry flavor, very nice. The crust on the bottom was just a little bit dry. To wrap it up, I went with the Schokotarte. Also a very good choice. It was fluffy and moist, not too sweet. Good experience overall, would've rated 5 stars if the service...
