During my recent trip to Munich, I spent several hours exploring Marienplatz, and it truly left a lasting impression on me. First and foremost, the architecture surrounding the square is simply stunning. The towering Gothic-style New Town Hall dominates the scene with its intricate details and impressive facade. Be sure to catch the captivating performance of the Glockenspiel in the tower—it's a delightful spectacle that attracts crowds every day. The adjacent Old Town Hall is equally beautiful, with its charming Renaissance design. Marienplatz is not just visually appealing; it also boasts a vibrant atmosphere. The square is always buzzing with activity, whether it's street performers entertaining the crowds, musicians playing delightful tunes, or locals and tourists mingling together. It's a great place to soak up the energy of the city and immerse yourself in the Bavarian culture. Additionally, Marienplatz is surrounded by numerous shops, cafes, and restaurants, making it a perfect spot for shopping and dining. Whether you're in the mood for traditional Bavarian cuisine or international flavors, you'll find an array of options to satisfy your taste buds. Don't forget to try the local specialties such as pretzels, sausages, and beer! One thing I highly recommend is visiting Marienplatz during the holiday season. The square transforms into a winter wonderland with its charming Christmas market, adorned with sparkling lights, festive decorations, and the aroma of mulled wine and roasted chestnuts. It truly captures the enchanting spirit of the holidays and creates an unforgettable experience. Finally, Marienplatz's central location makes it an excellent starting point for exploring Munich. It's well-connected by public transportation, and many of the city's top attractions, including the Frauenkirche and Viktualienmarkt, are within walking distance. In summary, Marienplatz is a gem that should not be missed when visiting Munich. Its rich history, stunning architecture, lively atmosphere, and convenient location make it a must-see destination for travelers of all kinds. Prepare to be captivated by the beauty and charm of this iconic square—I guarantee you won't be disappointed!

You can't visit Munich without seeing the Rathaus-Glockenspiel. It is a large mechanical clock located in Marienplatz Square, in the heart of Munich, Germany. It is famous for its life-size characters. The clock twice daily reenacts scenes from Munich’s history. First is the story of the marriage of Duke Wilhelm V to Renata of Lorraine in 1568 and the second tells the story of the Schäfflerstanz, or otherwise known as the Cooper’s dance. We watched the show at 5:00pm. Then we carried on to the Munich Frauenkirche. It is a church in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, that serves as the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising and seat of its Archbishop. It is a landmark and is considered a symbol of the Bavarian capital city. The legend says, that the Teufelstritt, or Devil's Footstep, still present today at the entrance, ia black mark resembling a footprint, which according to legend was where the devil stood when he curiously regarded and ridiculed the 'windowless' church that Halsbach had built. #lovetotravel #borntotravel #travellife #europe #frauenkirche #rathausglockenspiel #munich #munich🇩🇪 #thankful
