I normally do not leave negative restaurant reviews. As someone with close friends and family, as well as personal experience, in the service industry, I usually like to keep complaints directed to staff and management. However, when staff brush off complaints or lecture me for bringing it up, then I'm left with no other choice.
Went for dinner while waiting overnight at the Munich Airport. Went with a work colleague who was doing the same. We arrived with nobody else really seated, and had relatively prompt, friendly service.
We waited over 45 minutes for food. About 30 minutes into the wait our server informed us that our ticket had never been entered, so our food was delayed. Offered a free drink on the house, fine. I was offered a glass of wine, and received the smallest pour I have ever seen from a wine glass (maybe 1.5oz).
Dinner arrived, and the food was by and large excellent, except that my steak was overcooked (medium instead of medium-rare). I continued to eat it, thinking maybe it was properly done in the centre. Unfortunately, no. I brought this to the attention of the server, as a polite advisory to the kitchen, who apologized sincerely, but returned two minutes later to lecture me for having continued to eat it. That was definitely a first.
Some delay in getting our dessert order, but it arrived promptly enough. Then...we waited. And waited. And continued to wait for 30 minutes after our plates were taken away. Nobody asking if we wanted another drink or the cheque. I made eye contact with two staff, including our server, both who acknowledged me and promptly walked away. My colleague finally got up to ask. When our server finally came with the cheques, I remarked that I'd made eye contact, she'd walked away, and we'd been waiting thirty minutes. She visibly looked irritated, caught herself, gave a snippy apology, and left.
While I understand that the restaurant had become busy, being outright ignored for over half an hour is unacceptable. In total, 3 hours was spent there, of which 45 minutes saw actual food...
Read moreI recommand the sunday brunch. I was there for sunday brunch. The whole team is great. The restaurant is modern and there was a passionate singer there, who plays piano and sing. The admosphare makes me feel relaxing. Since financial crisis there are not so many good restaurants in munich city. The beverage bar and dessert bar match the standard of hilton, you can enjoy your tee, coffee with petit fours there. The food have a wide varity, there are two high lights, beef jerky with olive sause and tunna fish cappacio. Some food are still need to be improved: Spetzel Nuddel: look like from kindergarten cantine. Bratkatoffel and Ratatoui with ham, too greecy. Grilled Beef: the whole dish full of blood. The grilled pan was too dry full of black burnt flecks , but the chef still put meat on it. What is good, the chef would like to cook well-done if you ask. Sushi: taste like from normal supermarket freezer. Cauliflower soupe: like no name instant soupe from any supermarket. There rest are ok, like Cantinecooking, such as warm samons. Some food are very cheap, like chicken legs. It made me feel as if i were in stone age .
Good: They dont add too much seasoning: This is good for people with allergy, children and senior. They use laktosefree milk. They...
Read moreThis restaurant is in the Hilton Munich Airport Hotel. The hours are posted on the Hilton website and the signs in the hotel. We were turned away for dinner at 10:15 PM when the hours clearly state they are open until 11PM. We were told we could eat at the bar outside the restaurant which has 4 entrées rather than the full menu. The food comes from the same kitchen. We could have come earlier but never thought we would be tuned away. Hilton is usually a dependable brand, but the service at the restaurant was definitely not up to the standard you would expect. Our party ended up having a few drinks but not eating much. At €18 for a plain cesar salad and €23 for a chicken sandwich, most of our party of 7 decided to eat McDonald's instead. If they did not care enough about their guests to honor the posted hours of the hotel's own restaurant, we did not care enough to pay for an expensive limited menu. We would have gladly payed if everyone was able to order what they wanted from the full menu. That said, the bartender was extremely accommodating and apologetic for the restaurant. He provided excellent service, the type of service you would expect from the Hilton name. The restaurant staff could learn about customer...
