The worst service I've had in my life. This coming from someone who worked as a waiter himself, and who understands the difficulties of the job. We were a group of hungarians mixed with a few other nationalities, and our waiter, a senior, hoary hungarian man as well, must have heard us speaking the language as he continuously responded in hungarian to questions asked in german. As the table had only one menu on it, and being a bigger group we kindly asked if we could get more menus (in german). We were told: "There is only one menu per table!" (in hungarian), after a few moments, the waiter grebbed a second menu from another table and practically threw it on ours without saying anything. This was just the beginning. After we ordered a main dish + a desert each. The desserts for half the table were brought out before the mains, as they were 'ready first'. Then came some main dishes for a few people, than after 15 minutes, the rest of desserts and what was left of the mains. When one of us asked if she could take her glass off juice 5 steps out of the terrace to sit by the lake-side, she was very rudely told 'NO!'. The waiter was very condescending throughout our interaction, and when we asked for the check and wanted to pay, he said word for word: "You can just leave my tip on the table". I think this was the first time in my life I didn't leave a tip, but the guy single-handedly managed to ruin the pleasant experience of visiting the wonderful castle of Neuschwanstein, and leave us with a bitter taste at the end of our day. Conclusion: The food is ok, but far too expensive for what you get. The service: worse...
Read moreThe place in general is fine, BUT! When we have asked the bill, the waiter (about 50 years old) just told the total sum 31 euro. We asked several times to bring the bill, but the waiter apparently didn't want to bring it. In the end, when he didn't have already any choice and brought the bill, it was 24!! We were just in shock! When we asked why he had told the price 31, he told that he had meant the number of the table! Unbelievable.. When we told that we want to speak to the chief, he told that he is the chief, but it was obvious that the wasn't. During this conversation he was smiling all the time and even didn't excuse! It was sad surprise for us to meet such terrible...
Read moreI was prepared to dislike this place when I looked at the prices and saw how staff were hustling tourists to every available space. But if you don't mind a little bit of a rush and the markup associated with a tourist magnet like Neuschwanstein Castle, this is a good place for a Strudel or even a full meal. Portions are fine, the food itself is surprisingly good, staff are efficient and the view onto the Alpsee lake is stunning. There are kids options not mentioned on the menu (e.g. Schnitzel), so if you're traveling with children just...
