We visited this place for lunch. There were 8 of us and they pushed two tables together outside to accommodate us. The patio gets lots of sun which is very pretty but got a little hot. I had the Matjes Nordisch (pickled herring with dill-honey mustard sauce, with cabbage and a side of fried potatoes. The matje fillets were really good - the flavour wasn't too "fishy" or pungent, and the sauce was very tasty. There was an assortment of fresh vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, endives) on the side for garnish which I really liked. Very tasty dish with the cabbage. The potatoes were served separately and were also very well prepared. Very filling portion and the price was appropriate. The food was slow to arrive, even considering we were a big group. There was also some confusion as to how we could pay. We saw others getting their bills brought to their tables, but we were told we had to go inside, but then there was no one to help us inside for a while, and we had to stand in the way of the wait staff while we were trying to get someone's attention. In general, we felt all of the wait staff was a little rude to us. Maybe it's worth dealing with for the good food and nice location, but there are so many Swabian restaurants around that I can't imagine it would be difficult to find something that combines good food with...
Read moreIf you are looking for authentic German food, you can't go wrong with Marktstüble. This is a very good restaurant that specializes in Swabian food. Spätzle, Maultaschen and Wurst are excellent. The Spätzle appears to be made on site and from scratch as is tasty the sauce that accompanies it. They have the best Maultaschen (a kind of German wonton, served in soup or not) that I have ever tried. The steak I had was perfectly seasoned and prepared to my exact liking. The potato salad is also a must have. The potatoes have an amazing texture and flavor. For drinks, they have a nice variety of beers which are served in very big mugs. They even have an alcohol-free Hefeweizen! The wine here also is highly recommended and they have a nice selection. While this place has a mom and pop feel and is very cozy, it can also be considered quite a romantic place. The restaurant overall is clean as are the kitchen and prep areas. The restrooms were also neat and tidy. The wait staff is very friendly. I was greeted with a big smile from each of the staff with whom I had an interaction. The main waiter was exceptionally nice and offered recommendations for first-timers, explaining a bit about some of the dishes. A major bonus is that speak a few of the staff speak very good English. This place is awesome dining in the heart...
Read moreAn absolutely amazing place!! The waitstaff is incredibly warm, kind, and especially patient with those who do not speak the language. The setting is gorgeous, and the food is absolutely delicious. I find it hard to get food this fresh. My guess is the restaurant procured its ingredients from the amazing market right next door! I’ve now come here two nights in a row and had the schnitzel and market-hall salad both times. They are some of the tastiest dishes I have ever consumed. The schnitzel is cooked perfectly, and the salad is quite possibly the best I have ever had. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try. You will not be disappointed.
Thank you,...
