I have been frequenting this place during my business visits to Sttttgart pre-CoVid and then continued after moving here. Their quality and quantity were one of the main reasons we always went there.
Unfortunately, today, we had a horrific experience with the food with both quality & quantity, and also with service at the exit!
We ordered Pesto Pasta Basilico, a Pinsa Pesto con Spinacci, & Death By Chocolate!
Taste on the Pasta and Pinsa were not the typical Vapiano standards! Pasta was spicy even though we had marked for lower spice! The pesto has gone missing from the Pesto con Spinacci Pinsa/Pizza over time & today it was very bland. Pinsa was too thick & very untypical! The only saving point was that the ingredients were fresh as always!
Death By Chocolate! Where do I start with this? The size of the slice has halved since we last had this in October! Absolutely ridiculous for the same price as earlier!!!
The exit was even worse than all of the above! The attendant was too busy to generate our bill and was busy in attending someone and handing out instructions to the chef even though he took our cards! We had to wait for more than a couple of minutes even though we were the only ones at the counter! And, I am not criticising him for serving someone else! At least he could have been courteous while helping the other customer & asked us to hold for a couple of minutes!
At this current state, I cannot recommend anyone to try it out! I did not think that our favourite restaurant in Stuttgart will drop down to such poor levels!

First of all, they make you order on a screen, like at McDonalds. That already says a lot about the quality they seek in making the dish. Because there is no room for customization, obviously.
I try to find the Pasta funghi i see on their paper menus, but no, it is not in the screen system. Ok, i order a pasta Alfredo. My order comes without parmesan, which is, of course, the MAIN ingredient in pasta Alfredo!!!! And which their deceptive photo also shows. I ask for parmesan and the cook seems annoyed. He gives me some shredded soft parm. I try to explain he is supposed to sprinkle parmesan flakes on top to finish my dish, that’s what the photo shows and that’s pasta Alfredo. Nope, he’s not interested and there is also a language barrier, he pretends he doesn’t know what i want. The dish lists basil as an ingredient. I found a total of one (1!!!) basil leaf in the entire meal….
Then i sit down and wait for my tea to arrive but it never does. Because the screen you order things on doesn’t tell the person in the drinks area that someone placed an order for a drink. Lol lol, then why make people place the order on the screen at all if the information is not passed on to the person preparing it?!?! Makes no sense absolutely at all.

This time, we were greeted by a friendly staff member and handed our digital card. We were instructed on how to make our order at the automated order screen. We then collected our buzzer and went onto the bar to collect our drinks. We found some comfortable seating upstairs on the balcony and waited for our food, which didn't take long at all. Personally, I love the cosy, yet modern atmosphere of Vapiano. They bring the outside inside, with the large olive trees and pots of fresh herbs on the tables. We only waited about 15-20 minutes before our buzzer alerted us that we could collect our order. Our food was delicious, fresh and steaming hot. Portions are decent and I love how you can personalise the pasta dishes to your tastes. Once you are finished, you take your card to the cashier and pay for your order.
