Ristorante I Fratelli - im Haus Salmegg — Restaurant in Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Rheinfelden (Baden)

I've been coming to this restaurant on my yearly visits to my mother in Switzerland, and it is a truly fantastic restaurant with excellent food, great service, a wonderful environment, and heavenly views.

They have two daily specials, what we call "Menu" in Switzerland and Germany, which include a salad and dessert, at around 20 euro, and they are always absolutely scrumptious.

I had the homemade pasta in tomato/ salmon sauce and it was excellent, the salad is always lightly dressed and delicious, and the dessert was a light and yummy parfait.

Other family members had the ribeye steak and the lamb chops, and both tasted and looked fabulous.

Swiss, German and Italian are spoken by most, and English by some, making for a delightful and relaxing experience as the staff is warm and friendly...

Our friends told us of this place - its in the basement of the museum on the rhein. And omg, is it good. No it's great. Really. One of the best meals of the trip and weve been traveling for a month, so that says something. The head waiter is from italy, the veal to die for and the ragu was sublime. And we spent most of our time in italy. Oh and it has beautiful views of the rhein and the old city. The service was truly 5 stars. And did I mention the food was otherworldly good? This little gem is worth traveling for. The food is not necessarily "inventive" like some Michelin starred restaurants but I honestly say I enjoyed this...

Unser Besuch war am 21.07.2017, ich hatte vorreserviert. Wir hätten jedoch auf Grund sehr schlechten Wetters doch lieber einen Platz im Innern des Restaurants eingenommen, statt auf der Terrasse. Das ging wohl nicht. Stattdessen wurde die Terrasse mit einer festen Plane verschlossenen, sehr romantisch war das nicht.. Der Service war sehr schnell, uns wurde die Speisekarte in die Hand gedrückt und nach unseren Wünschen gefragt, obwohl erst nur zwei von vier Gästen am Tisch waren, später noch einmal, kaum dass mein Partner saß. Als kompliziert stellte sich die Getränkebestellung heraus: mein Partner bestellte offenen Rotwein, mein Sohn und ich entschieden uns für je ein Glas Sekt, also insgesamt zwei, was offensichtlich Problemen bereitete: entweder Sekt oder Rotwein... Der Sekt musste extra nachgefragt werden, nachdem der Rotwein schon lange auf dem Tisch stand. Die Vorspeise kam sehr zügig und war sehr gut, auf den Hauptgang mussten wir relativ lange warten. Eine Reklamationen, weil sich auf meinem Teller ein langes, helles, festgebackenes Haar befand, wurde ungläubig aufgenommen, im Team des Hauses sei niemand mit hellem Haar.... (btw: wir sind auch alle dunkelhaarig...) Mir wurde der Teller dann mit verbaler Entschuldigung abgenommen und es hieß für mich noch mal warten, während die anderen am Tisch schon am Essen waren. Das Essen selbst war wohl nicht schlecht, die Portionen sehr gross, aber der Appetit war eindeutig weg. Eine "nette Geste" für das Malheur mit dem Haar gab es nicht...

Insgesamt ein durchwachsener Abend: *wenig Flexibilität bei der Tischzuweisung, *Übereifer bei der Aufnahme der Bestellung *langes Warten beim Bedienen *bedenkliche Reaktion bei berechtigter Reklamationen

Fazit : Nicht schlecht, aber auf dem Level, auf dem das Salmegg mitspielen möchte, sollte man es vielleicht etwas...
