If you're ever in Weinheim, Germany, then you MUST eat a meal at Maharaja!! This is absolutely one of the best places (and possibly THE BEST PLACE) where I've eaten Indian food!! And I must tell you that this is no ordinary dining experience...they go the extra mile to treat you well - just like what the restaurant name means!! We sat in the atrium area, where you have a beautiful view of the historic Winedeck castle (which is beautifully lit at night). 1st - the menu choice: German or English. Then we reviewed the menu, and ordered and received our drinks. I ordered a Mango Lassie - made with yogurt and mangoes. It really tasted delicious!!! Now I'll be honest, after a few sips through a straw, I kept getting a tickle in my throat that made me cough. My manager (I was on a work trip) said the same happens to him and his daughter when they order that drink - like a small allergic reaction or something. So then he ordered some water and I drank that for the remainder of dinner, BUT I took that Mango Lassie back to my hotel room in a to-go cup. I had NO INTENTION of wasting such a great-tasting beverage! If it was going to make me cough, then I was just going to do that by myself in my room. But luckily, it didn't make me cough when I drank the remainder in my room! Maybe it was just the coldness of the drink in the restaurant - that's the only difference I can think of (I drank the remainder at room temperature). Back to what we did after receiving our dri ks - then, we ordered an appetizer and our food. We started with scrumptious samosas - delivered to our table with 3 accompanying sauces - one sweet (with an apple taste), one very spicy that I didn't taste, and one green yogurt sauce that was truly delicious. Next, our table was meticulously prepped for the main dishes - I mean really! 2 rectangular hot plates were brought to the table, and things were rearranged on our table until the person was pleased with how the table was arranged! Amazing. Then he brought us 2 hot dinner plates that we would use for our food. Next, he brought 5 metal bowls containing white rice and the main dishes, carefully placing them on the rectangular hot plates: Chicken Tikka Masala, Vegetable Biryani, Palak Paneer, and Chicken Mango. He left the table and not too long after, returned with piping-hot, fresh-from-the-oven garlic naan!! I mean, you could SEE AND TASTE the 100% fresh garlic!! And of course we were brought wonderful sauces and yogurts to complement the main dishes. We began to dig in - me completely forgetting to take pictures first because everything looked so mouth-watering tempting that I forgot!! We ate until we were full, and then asked for boxes to take some food with us. Instead, the person attending to us methodically removed everything from the table and packed a perfect to-go bag for us that had ALL of the remaining food in it!!! And THAT food is what you see in the pictures - a couple of the carefully-packed to-go boxes and my mango lassie in the cup. Like I said, this trip to Maharaja was definitely an EXPERIENCE - like the name says...being treated like a king...or in my case, a queen!!! Everything we ordered was delicious, and the service was outstanding. A perfect dinner dining experience.

It was an excellent evening dinner with authentic indian food. Had chicken tikka masala and kadhai paneer. Ambience was great just next to terrace with good view to the burg. Great service. Totally recommend.

I was really excited to try this Indian restaurant in Germany, but unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. While the restaurant had a nice ambiance and decor, the food was a major letdown. The chicken curry I ordered was lacking in flavor and had a strange texture, and the naan bread was dry and stale. Additionally, the service was quite slow and unresponsive, and it took a long time to get our food and drinks.

Overall, I was disappointed with the quality of the food and the service at this restaurant. I would recommend that the management work on improving the flavor and texture of their dishes, as well as training their staff to provide more attentive and efficient service. While the restaurant has potential, it needs to make some changes in order to live up to...
