Very bad client/customer care!
I went to Autostadt with friends of mine and we decided to eat at the restaurant before the night water show. The restaurant was supposedly good from the exterior but actually all was a disaster. First we waited during 15 minutes to get a table. Then another 15 minutes to get beers from the bar. Next to that nobody explained us how the formule works. We finally found that there was a French buffet with two choices: -unlimited for 22,50€ -One plate (no dessert included) for 14,50€ Exactly as written in the menu.
So, I decided to order the unlimited one. French food was Ok, but not as good as it should be. I know what I mean, because I’m French. That’s why I just took one plate of the buffet. Then I remembered that I supposedly had access to the dessert with my so called “unlimited formula”. I asked three cookers/waiters to find the dessert area: -The first one told me dessert are just cheese (cheese plate was of course already empty…) ; -The second one told me that there were no dessert ; -and the last one from the “ice / Waffel area”, after another 10 minutes, wait told me that there would be extra fees for this (+5,50€ for one dessert).
Yet comes the most interesting part of this story: As people from the staff (cookers/waiters) weren’t able to give me dessert, I decided to explain my complaint to the cashier. After a new 15 minutes waiting in the queue to pay, I explained my point, saying that I was supposed to pay 22,50€ (so 8€ more than the 14,50€) actually for nothing. She wasn’t able to give me an answer and sent me to her colleague (another cashier). I spent then a new 10 minutes in the other queue thinking that yet my nightmare will end up soon, but no it was just a beginning. I explained to her my point of view of the thing and that the menu wasn’t conform to normal client’s expectations and she just started to YELL at me. She pulled the menu off my hand and said that it was printed with a mistake, and then she said that I had to pay the 22,50€ even if there were no dessert and even if I ate just one plate. She was definitely so RUDE and so NOISY that I felt so uncomfortable to the numerous other clients waiting in the queues all around that decided to pay the bill. Finally she made me pay 14,50€, but it was still a VOLUNTEER MISTAKE from her side. Because when you pay your entry to Autostadt, then you can take your money back when you buy drink or food. So I was supposed to have 7€ discount due to this entry already paid. I decided to come back to her and to ask for the 7€ and she had already prepared the change in her hand and said something like “I knew that, but I wasn’t sure that you will come back”.
In a nutshell, I am VERY DISAPPOINTED by the food but especially by the staff of this “restaurant”. I cannot imagine that staff people could be so RUDE to client and make the client feel so uncomfortable like you were a thief. And she heard that I was French but did no effort to speak slowly or to make a commercial gesture or even apologies at least. Furthermore, it was supposed to be French food, French ambiance (for the coming French water spectacle). As a French guy I thought they could be more respectful to someone coming from France and they should see this as an honor to have ambassadors of the country they have chosen. Unfortunately I forget the name of this authoritarian lady to the cash desk but I’m not sure she deserves her job there because Autostadt represents not only German car industry but more a piece of...
Read moreEdit: since we last visited some points seem to have improved! Now the play area is separated and has an extra floor mat. The restaurant was also cleaner this time (went for diner).
Self-service restaurant with a formerly nice design. Unfortunately it’s quite outdated by now. It’s also literally always dirty. Came to lunch right after the opening at 11:30 and some tables still had crumbs on them. The floor is always, always dirty. Not nice for people with small kids. Also there is a play area which is right next to the kitchen, no door no nothing. Again, not so great if you have to catch your toddler running towards it...
