Accra Polo Club — Restaurant in Accra

The Polo Club restaurant and lounge is always s great place to go to whether for lunch, dinner or a sundowner. I came back the 4th time to this restaurant and choosing to be seated upstairs this time instead of my usual downstairs table and it was fantastic! The veranda was so green and refreshing. The restaurant inside reminds me of old colonial British salons - white table cloth, comfortable chairs and wooden ceilings.

Hats off to the owners and managers for their impeccable product and service recovery and their observance and strict practice of proper food safety. I was very impressed. And yes! Chef Alvin's sushi are some of the best and freshest in Accra. They were so good with that clean taste that I ended up having another platter of sushi and sashimi for my main course 😊

So I attended a wine festival here and it was my first time entering the Polo grounds. The portion of the grounds the event was held was grassy and clean which I liked. There was easy access to the polo club's washroom which was great. The male washroom was neat as expected. In terms of security for your programs they don't disappoint. Very solid security throughout the two day program. All in all it was a great experience. Definitely the place you want to have a picnic type event that also allows you children the run of the field. I do not know if renting the space comes with the tables, chairs and the tents. I did not ask the event organizers. They also have a strong no litter policy so they ask that you encourage your guests to dispose of rubbish responsibly. There are bins around and also you can bring the large garbage disposal polythene bags for your waste. That's what we did...

I’m writing this with no intention of pointing fingers at any individual, but rather to express a concern regarding the team stationed outside on the first floor. Unfortunately, the service has been consistently disappointing for several months now.

We are not welcomed properly, and basic orders are often mishandled or ignored. Today, I had to request water twice, and still never received it. I had initially planned to order wine and dessert, but ended up leaving instead due to the lack of attention and service.

This repeated experience is becoming genuinely unpleasant, and it no longer makes me want to return — which is unfortunate, as this used to be one of my favorite places in Accra.

A serious reset in service standards is clearly needed for this section of the team. I hope the management takes this into consideration and brings the experience back to the level...
