An Unmet Promise
First of all, Ritual is marketed as a listening bar, but it couldn’t be further from the truth. I’ve visited three times so far: twice over the weekend for drinks and once on a Monday. On the weekends, the music was played by a DJ using a controller, and on Monday, it was a playlist—neither of which aligns with the “listening bar” concept they promote.
My first two experiences were average, a solid 3/5. The drinks were pretty good, and the service was decent. However, my most recent visit was a major disappointment. We arrived on a Monday evening, and the place was quiet, with only one other table seated at the time. Eventually, about five other tables filled up, but despite this light crowd, we waited over an hour for three food orders. We followed up 2–3 times with no results and finally escalated to the supervisor.
This supervisor, however, was the most shocking part of the experience. His response to our 1-hour+ wait was that the kitchen was busy and he had “other orders to take care of.” There was no apology, no acknowledgment of the terrible service—just excuses and indifference. He eventually grew agitated and defensive during the exchange.
To make matters worse, we were there to celebrate a birthday, which was effectively ruined. The only saving grace of the evening was our server, Noble, who was polite and professional despite the chaos around him.
Ritual has so much potential, but unfortunately, it’s just another trendy bar in Accra at the moment. Average food, horrible service, and nice aesthetics don’t make for a...
Read moreWe came here two nights in a row on Tuesday and Wednesday . First night we ordered the carribean plate and ink pasta paired with Chardonnay wine. The food and wine were excellent. Having a great experience we came back the 2nd night because the manager had told us there would be an event and a dj coming to play. Unfortunatly the dj did not show up so they decided to play tge vinyl of Amy Whinehouse. While we all enjoy her music they played the vinyl non stop for at least 1,5h straight at which point we asked for another vinyl to be played. The responded that the owners needed to give permission on which vinyl to play and that the vinyls i had requested were denied by the owners and that they were reserving those vinyls for others days. Which I found very bizar it being a listening and vinyl bar. Now for the service the staff is very friendly but lack skill and knowhow. The Wine we ordered was not presented to us and turned out to be the wrong bottle. The cevice was too spicy and the passion fruit too overbearing. We did send it back asked for less passion fruit and were accommodated. The vegetable tempura was nice but could be served in a different plate since it was inconvenient to eat it on the chosen rectangular plate. We had to ask to staff multiple times to pour out the wine. Had to ask to clear our table after being done eating for nearly 15m. Also had to ask for the bill after waiting for a while. Unfortunate as this place...
Read moreRitual was a great experience and even better restaurant. I found this spot by luck scrolling on TikTok prior to my trip to Ghana and knew I had to make it over before my trips end. Plus it’s Ghanaian owned which just made it 10x better for me.
Atmosphere (5 Stars): The decor is amazing and transports you into an entirely different world. The music was perfect. It’s a listening bar, but I was able to speak to those around me without losing my voice to get my points across.
Service (5 Stars): I suck at names , but our server was extremely attentive and all around helpful. He did forget to add my sisters order in, but quickly corrected it & her food came out fast. I was able to speak to the owner and she was extremely kind and down to earth as well.
Food (5 Stars): The food was great. So good I forgot to get pictures. I had the pancakes and I had no complaints. It’s hard to make a bad pancake, but also hard to make a great one, and Ritual exceeded my expectations. One of the best pancakes I’ve ever had. The right amount of fluffiness and sweetness. I also had the Milo Martini, which blew my mind as a Ghanaian American who never thought that was possible. It was so good I got a second one. Think espresso martini, but with breakfast tea instead of coffee.
I had a great time and I can’t wait to go back. If you have a chance to support make sure...
