I had been excited for weeks about going to this place and having some delicious pancakes that reminded me of home or atleast of IHOP. I mean, it's name is "The Breakfast Bar", so how could it go wrong? Unfortunately, it went very wrong. I had the meal they call "The Big American" (pancakes, eggs, & bacon) and as soon as the pancakes arrived, I knew something was wrong. Instead of getting two soft, light & fluffy pancakes, I received two very dense, dark & overcooked "cakes". I was hoping the butter & syrup would make them delicious but they did not even make them palatable. Imagine eating cardboard soaked in syrup & butter. I finished the mediocre eggs and bacon and I forced myself to eat about a quarter of the pancakes. As a way to manage people's expectations, I would suggest that this place stop calling what I had "The Big American" because in the US someone would get in trouble for serving what I was given. Anyone who was born and raised in the US, especially in the American South, as I was, would be so annoyed by what I was given that they would take the time to write a long review describing in detail how awful it was. Bottom line: If you want an American-style breakfast, do not go...

When we entered the completely empty establishment, the guy at the bar gave a look like we were annoying him. He said nothing, literally no hi or anything, he just stared as us. I said hi is there more seating upstairs can we see a menu. He said yes. We went upstairs. We waited about 10-15 min and no one came to take our order so we went back downstairs and said do we order here? He said yes. We ordered then went back upstairs. After 40 min of waiting the man brought the food up. It was alright, the "chicken sandwich" was actually chicken salad sandwich. He barely said 10 words the entire time but I knew he could speak english (heard him talking to the cook). After we finished, we went downstairs to pay.
The tables and chairs were uneven, we moved tables 3 times. The bathroom didnt have toilet paper, they gave me napkins. I wasn't expecting 5 star service but I was at least expecting decent service (we have been in Ghana a week and knew what to expect). The plate was after we tried the bacon/egg and one sandwich bite. I am a...
Read moreThe Breakfast Bar is very small with a cosy vibe. It feels like a great place to have intimate breakfast dates or grab breakfast alone. It has an outdoor seating space as well.
The coffee and sandwich selection is not that extensive but overall the menu has a decent level of variety. However, there aren’t that many local Ghanaian breakfast dishes on offer.
The food tastes good and the prices are reasonable compared to most of the other breakfast joints...
