Grand Hotel Songhe Hall — Restaurant in Zhongshan District

Very disappointed with this historical hotel that entertained many foreign VIP.

Called the restaurant over a month ago from U.S. to make a reservation, stating my wife and I are coming in March to celebrating our 30 years of anniversary. No sincere greeting upon our arrival. I asked the hostess if we can a table near window as I stated on my reservation a month. No responses from the hostess. We were seated near fire extinguisher by the grand stairway. I was not happy with the location. I asked another gentleman who seem to be part of management if I can get a different table. He said entire restaurant is booked, and he will try to get us seat in a different section but, I would have to wait for at least an hour or longer. Nice hotel, with Chinese traditional decor everywhere. Bed is OK, sheets was not comfortable, feel rough, pretty sure the cotton count is high, but it is just rough, not sure if it is because they didn't laundry clean or too much starch? The pillows were very hard. AC works but humidity in the room was just uncomfortable for me. Chinese Dinner set came with rooms, looks good, but taste too salty on most and last dish asian style bake noodles, was just too salty and grease for me, no amount of tea can wash it down for me. All the staff was nice, still for a high class hotel need more improvement, the order of dish, twice! Is only 7 dish, how hard is it to keep it in order? Presentation was there but... Or I had too much expectations? I think China airline business class meal taste better...
