Nightmare dinner. Rudeness, violence, and racism
I'll start by saying the food is good, but the service was awful—because of one waiter in particular. We placed our order, and two minutes later, my friend changed her mind about a dish. She politely asked if it could be changed. That’s when the nightmare began. The waiter (the tall bald one) called the kitchen, speaking loudly and clearly annoyed. A simple “no, it’s too late to change the order” would have been totally fine for us.
But it gets worse: he began making racially charged jokes aimed at us (we are Italian), and we noticed. When he brought the dishes, he made another inappropriate comment. It ruined our dinner—we were very upset.
At the end, we just wanted to leave quickly. My friend went to the counter to pay, and the waiter verbally attacked her, shouting that we should have asked for the bill at the table. In every restaurant I’ve ever been to, it’s normal to pay either at the table or at the counter. Even if that’s not the policy here, you can explain it politely—there’s no need to yell at customers.
We decided to complain about the service. The only person who apologized and was kind was the young waitress, who hasn’t been working there long. She deserves a thank you and credit for knowing how to treat customers with empathy and respect. You should all take notes from her.
Lastly, despite everything, we weren’t offered a discount or even a small gesture. And that specific waiter didn’t even apologize. Food is not everything—being kind to customers matters too. If you're angry and racist, change job. You are a big man being rude and violent towards two...
Read moreA real gem of Argostoli! After much deliberation of where we would dine on a Saturday evening we stumbled across Baroque by small chance and enjoyed the most amazing and inventive cocktails. We arrived at about 6:30 and when enquired if we could make a reservation for 8pm the same night (we were just on the terrace for drinks) , the friendly waitress reserved us a lovely table with gorgeous pink flower and decor. The atmosphere was lovely, with a mix of friends meeting for drinks and couples with babies enjoying the evening. The food was delicious - definitely order the cheese with jam appetiser, and finished off with a divine complimentary cheesecake and dessert liquers that were lovely little favours. Portions were large and FANTASTIC value for money. As a family of five (with a younger person who shared parts of the meals) we spent €150 which included drinks, and the quality and freshness of food was outstanding. Would definitely recommend to anyone fancying an evening in Argostoli and that loves creative cocktails, refreshing beer and...
Read moreTo the manager: The evening shift deserves the highest praise – last night, despite a completely full restaurant, we received a fresh fruit mix and a beer in under 5 minutes. The staff was well-organized, efficient, and genuinely hospitable, leaving us with a great impression.
However, the morning shift today was the exact opposite. In a nearly empty restaurant, we waited over 15 minutes for two fresh juices, while others who arrived later were served quickly. When I asked, I was told our drinks hadn’t even been started, and we were met with eye-rolling and a sarcastic ‘goodbye’ when we chose not to wait any longer.
The difference between these two teams is night and day. The morning shift should either learn from the professionalism of the evening shift or simply be replaced, because this level of arrogance and disrespect towards customers is unacceptable and damaging to your...
