A little piece of heaven. My wife and I discovered this place on a trip to kefalonia years ago. We fell in love with the island and have been back countless times. This is by far my favourite place on the island. I once drove from a villa in Fiskardo just for a beer here.
Catch it out of season and you might even have the place to yourself (save for the owner, Thornton, of course. He is lovely. A true Welsh gent). 200+ beers and Thornton will help pick what works for you. I bought some to take away once and one of them had to be kept chilled. Thornton only let me take it away on the promise our Villa was less than 10 mins away so it wouldnât warm up!
Honestly whenever i want to think relaxing thoughts I go back to this place, sat on a bench with my lovely wife both looking down the sublime green valley out to sea, drinking the most amazing beers and watching the sun slowly go down. Heaven.
Honestly Thornton, if you ever want to sell up please just...
Read moreCafÚ Platanos is a very charming spot ran by and equally charming couple! The cafÚ sits on the edge of a small ravine, with a picturesque view of the sea. The flowers growing naturally and in various pots around the terrace, along with a 300+ year old maple tree, help to frame the view. There are around 10 tables, and each one seems to be a different setup. There must be at least six tables made from antique sewing machines. The shop is cluttered with antique scales, a passion of the owner, who has been collecting them for decades. There are also boxes and bottles of beer everywhere, but as long as they know where to find a beer for you, then it just adds to the charm! There is said to be 300 different beers available, so choose wisely, but most importantly, take time out of your busy day to relax and enjoy this charming cafÚ!...
