Ελιά στη Μαβίλη — Restaurant in Athens

We were recommended to eat here by our nearby hotel (Best Western Embassy).

The restaurant is so conveniently placed that on one of those lazy evenings that we didn't feel like going far, we decided to give it a try.

We are so glad that we did. The restaurant is beautiful, with simple but elegant furnishings and a spacious feel to it. The staff are lovely, entertaining, friendly and can tell you whatever you need to know about the food and drink.

We felt very welcome and, as visitors from England without much knowledge of Greek cuisine, very well looked after. My wife has an allergy to nuts and felt reassured that the food she chose was suitable for her

I chose the "Kontosouvli" chicken skewer which was deliciously flavoured and tender. My wife had sea bass which she very much enjoyed and my mother had a vegetarian lasagne which she was very enthusiastic about. Alongside, we had a Greek salad which was amazing (and I don't often say that about salads!).

We found the value here very good, particularly taking into account the quality of the food and the smiling and generous service we received.

We would love to come back here to try more of this amazing food when we are next in Athens and would return even if we were not...

I had an outstanding experience at this restaurant.. The building used to house my place of work many years ago & the event was that company’s reunion.. Mr Evaggelopoulos & Ms Kalligerou, who helped me arrange this event, were extremely helpful.. kind & considerate.. The atmosphere & decor of the restaurant were very inviting & comfortable.. The food was absolutely delicious.. beautifully presented.. perfectly seasoned & clearly made carefully with fresh & high quality ingredients.. The portions were generous.. & even though we were a relatively large company.. they managed to serve our main dishes all together.. I really regret not thinking of taking photos of the dishes.. I will definitely come back & will recommend this restaurant to...

I found this delightful restaurant a short walk away from my hotel (Best Western Embassy) which was great as I didn't feel like walking around looking for a place to eat. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food - a Greek salad and then a moussaka, washed down with a half-litre of the house white (itself a revelation-really good wine) - all for 35 euros. The hostess was absolutely charming and welcoming. Nothing was too much for her. Small wonder then that I returned here every night for the rest of my stay in Athens. I can thoroughly recommend the baked eggplant and the linguine with scampi. The dips and side treats are just wonderful. Can't wait...
