If you think Acropolis is high, you should try this place. The views are something I would not find enough words for and any video and picture will not do it justice.
It took us about an hour to climb to the top. We were not rushing and just enjoying the view. My parents were climbing with me and they are not very fit people but made it to the top just fine. Even said they enjoyed it haha.
At the top you will find 2 coffee shops if I’m not mistaken (or it might be one but split into two locations). We didn’t have drinks there so cannot comment on the menus but there were plenty of tables to sit if that’s what you would like.
We were there at 11am and it was really not that crowded. It got busier as we were leaving.
Walk down took us about 30 minutes but again, we were not rushing and just enjoying the view and a little turtle we’ve met on the way down.
Taxis are able to drive up quite high, I would say half way maybe. So if you’re struggling to climb, you can always use a Taxi to help you a little.
Toilets at the top are clean, free and had plenty of toilet paper which is appreciated haha. Although they’re very dark.
I would definitely visit this place again. It was my 2nd time in Athens and I’m regretting not climbing this hill during my...
Read moreThis was the crowning glory of my whole 10 day trip to Athens and due to some forward planning I coincided my last night with the rising of a full moon. So for that last night I captured an epic sunset, witnessesed the lights coming on over the vast city of Athens and stayed a while to capture the moon rise too.
It was busy (everywhere in Athens is busy) but it was just so special. I took the cable car up (it's internal so don't be expecting any views) and walked down. It was already dark when I walked down and the path was poorly lit, so at times I had to just figure our which turn to take. But as a solo female I didn't feel scared or anxious walking down but same time I was glad to get my feet on the street below. It was extra lovely because I met up with a new friend in the Q for the cable car and we buzzed about together making memories on top of the hill.
I'm back to Greece in September for an island hop but I'm gonna make sure to spend my last night in Athens just so I can behold the spectacle again, unfortunately it will be the time of a new moon but they that's ok because it will be a waxing crescent which brings new hope and...
Read moreThis is a very picturesque and and a romantic place as well, if you come for dinner. The view is an absolutely A MUST See!!!
What do you need to consider: Walking uphill for a long time- not for the faint of heart! Better choice is to just take a taxi to the top and then take the funnicular up and down which is also a good experience.
The view up there is outstanding and 360 degrees as it is the highest point t in Athens.
There are a few cafes And restaurants attached to the rock face with incredible views. At night, it would be Incredible. However, be warned the service is terrible and slow. We joined some friend halfway thru their lunch. We were there for half hour and none of the servers came to ask if we wanted anything nor our friends who were waiting for their bill. We got to sit and enjoy the view and left as we were just going to spend extra money for experience.!!
Overall all. Great experience!
Walking downhill was absolutely easy to get back to the Parliament. But we are relatively healthy in our 70’s
Don’t miss...
