Really disappointing! We came by Blue Bamboo restaurant last evening and the restaurant was buzzing. Because of this and the good online reviews, we decided to dine there this evening and we're massively disappointed. The restaurant is clean and has a nice atmosphere, apart from the jazz music playing which does not suite the concept. The dishes on the menu sounded nice and appatizing, however this was not authentic Thai cuisine. We started off with the papaya salad, which was too acidy and lacked any sweetness of papaya. The shrimps did not taste fresh and the dish was not at all spicy as supposed to the menu description. For main course we had the Singapore noodles and the red curry. The noodle dish looked really unappetising and tasted massively of glutamate. Way too much curry powder was used and there were hardly any vegetables in the dish. The curry was overcooked and served with sour creme on top, which made it obvious, that the chefs don't know Thai cuisine. Needless to say, we didn't finish our dishes. When the waiter came to clear the table we were asked if we didn't like it. We agreed and pointed out that we were in fact very disappointed with the food. He just acknowledged this with an 'ok' without any further questions or enquiry for further feedback, which demonstrates a lack of hospitality skills. Can absolutely not understand where the good reviews come from. Overall, this was a really disappointing dinner and we would not...
Read moreAs far as Thai food is concerned Blue Bamboo is the place to be. Their food is amazing and the place is cosy. They also serve excellent cocktails i would suggest the Tiki Cobbler or Muay Thai. The food comes out to about 25€ per person my friend and i had a salad, 2 appetizers, 2 main dishes, 2 bowls of rice. If you put in the cocktails that will add about 8€ to your individual tab (33€ each). The negatives of this establishment are that they are very very busy. This means they do not take reservations and thus their is a big chance you may need to wait a long time to get seated. It is a small establishment and has a few long tables so even though its a nice cosy place it may get uncomfortable you may be seated in the same table with a couple or to. I really felt uncomfortable being so involved in their conversation. But i moved to the outside tables and it was great. This place is better for groups not couples on weekends. Best visit on weekdays. The reason for going to this length to review Blue Bamboo is that it is very much...
Read moreThe food was good. Now that that's out of the way, the real problem is with the way the place is run. We were forced to pick a time slot of either 8-10pm or 10-midnight. This means that everyone shows up at the restaurant at the same time, all the tables order at the same time, and everyone pays and leaves at the same time. Because we were a few minutes late, our server was already busy with a big table next to ours. It took a full 20 minutes just to get his attention to place our order, and the food took another half hour - so from the moment we were seated, we waited a full 50 minutes until our food was served. Trying to pay the bill was equally challenging. Also, since we sat inside, the place felt unnecessarily loud and having a conversation was uncomfortable. It feels as though this venue is compromising on its guests' experience in an effort to accommodate more people and make more money. That's not the right...
