I discovered this restaurant in one newspaper article while I was visiting Athens. It was not in the lists of the famous websites and travel guides, but I decided to check it anyway.
In one sentence: one of the best restaurants I went to in Greece. Do not expect anything fancy or pretentious. It's a simple restaurant, owned by the same family for decades.
Their menu offers 10 or 15 options between mains and appetisers. I was told by the waitress that the menu hasn't changed since the 1950s and they have a very faithful clientele that always comes there for the same dishes.
The audience is indeed very Greek, in a busy neighbourhood that is yet rarely frequented by tourists. I had the best fava bean puree in the world, and after that I ordered meatballs. At first I regretted my choice because I thought 'I could've ordered food I haven't had before but here am I, ordering meatballs!'. BUT hadn't I made the right decision? Those were by far the best meatballs I had in my life!
The evening ended with cold watermelon served for free by the lovely staff! I cannot wait to visit Athens again and go back to...
Read moreThe food is mediocre, nothing worth travelling from far away to visit (we actually live abroad and we booked this place a few weeks ago for a Sunday family lunch). However, the staff is extremely rude. I had booked it online and then called them to make the table bigger as we were 12 people. They said ok by phone. When we got there they were arrogant from the first minute and started telling us you have to leave in 2 hours because we have another reservation. Then after a while they came again and in an extremely rude manner asked who made the reservation and that we need to leave in 2 hours. I explained them that we made the reservation by phone and no one told us we need to leave in 2 hours. But in any case they should bring us the menu so that we can order and leave on time. They were complaining all the time, we were very rushed and unwelcome and they are completely unprofessional. I read it used to be a nice place but now it’s totally ruined with the new management. Will never go there again! Food was very basic and...
