Nostimies tis Mairis — Restaurant in Athens

During the summertime, there is a lot of atmosphere and fluctuation outside all over the square, so the actual disadvantages are not that significant and four stars are justified then. Despite many celebrities from media and culture, however, this restaurant lacks atmosphere and reveals some severe shortcomings, so it can not be recommended in winter. Many of the ranting guests behave like would-be VIPs of a sworn community, making the guest's stay uncomfortable and cold. The dishes and the detached service are for Athens' conditions rather below average, ALL ordered meals were not really delicious. I really dislike giving bad reviews but truth has to be told. The waiter basically did not say a word neither did eye contact, we felt like we were bothering him by being there or something. Instead of leaving we decided to order, maybe the guy was not comfortable in speaking English and that’s fine, although being friendly does not depend on language. I was suspicious about the low prices. Greek salad was ok, my husband liked his stuffed tomatoes but I could not eat my pork chop. The meat had very bad quality and it was not well seasoned. The fries were soaked in oil, did not eat either. In the end we just wanted to get out as soon as he finished eating. I will not come back neither can recommend this place. Got almost scammed. Food was amazing!!Prices really reasonable! But then without asking, the waiter just put our bill on our table without saying anything and instead of 13,50€ it said 19,50€. We thought it’s taxes or something and we were confused. Then we have noticed that the bill was from 13.50 while we were there around 22:00. The waiter passed us many times and then after 15minutes when we’ve had finished the food and we asked him about the bill he immediately said “Oh yeah there’s something wrong right?” And told us the real price, meaning he knew all the time but didn’t tell us and he didn’t even apologised.
