We visited the restaurant on November 2nd 2021, a party of two people. It is claiming to be the oldest tavern in Athens (although I have no reason to doubt it). The place is situated in a not-so-popular part of Athens but is however frequented by celebrities. I was persuaded to go from a friend of mine who told me is has the best meat in Athens. So, I arrived with high hopes. We ordered: 1) French fries with truffle and parmesan cheese: We really liked them. We got a second portion as well 2) Carpaccio wagyu al tartufo: Again a very nice dish. 3) Yakiniku wagyu A5: 2 portions of 100g each which are prepared in front of you with a torch. Very delicate meat melting in your mouth 4) Armenian small cheesepies: Tasty but not memorable 5) Pleurotus mushrooms on the grill: Tasty and well cooked 6) Tagliata flap steak: Delicious meat cooked to a perfect medium as we asked We wanted to try something more and we asked for a menu. Our server proposed a picanha. 7) Picanha: I am afraid the picanha was a disappointment. Too fatty (for a picanha), the meat-to-fat ratio was in some places 50-50. I do know that pichanha tends to have fat on, but this was not a good quality piece. So -1 star for this. When our server asked us how it was we told him it was too fatty, to which he replied "this is how picanha is" to which we said: "it is too fatty for a picanha". He apologised and I thought that would be the end of it. We asked for dessert and the ekmek with ice cream was also nice. EDIT 1: I forgot to mention in my original post that our servers were very friendly and professional. I asked to pay and the waiter asked me to come with him as the did not have a wireless POS. There I was greeted by an older gentleman (I do not know if he is the owner or the person in charge) and the following discussion occurred: M: Me, H: him H: How was your meal? M: Everything very nice, but as I explained to our server, the picanha was too fatty H: This is how picanha is. M: It was too fatty for a picanha H: Probably you've never had picanha before M: I assure you I have H: Probably it was not a picanha, it was kiloto (a type of Greek cut). M: Please allow me to disagree. Right then, someone behind me asked: "What is he (me) saying?". The older gentleman said: "He said something about the picanha. I explained but he paid either way". At this stage I want to point out that we never asked for this to be excluded from our bill. I happily paid but since I was asked my opinion by both the server and the older gentleman, I provided it as I do in all places when asked. And I did not do so in bad faith since I liked (or really liked) everything else. This kind of hostile behaviour will probably deter me from going back. I am taking out one more star because of this and when a place charges you around 150€ per person for what we ordered- wine included- you would expect to take your feedback seriously and try to improve. Looks like the taverna mentality does not go hand-in-hand with the prices. A shame

You should visit at least once this place if you are a meat lover.We ordered tagliata black angus and japanese wagyu A5,both perfect grilled and delicious! The 4stars goes for the appetizer bugiurdi with 4 cheeses,it was too salty for my taste and because there was no salad without sugar or honey,except the greek sald and the boiled greens wich we ordered. I believe combining sour and sweat you have convenient flavors to suit everybody. But at this restaurant I would prefer to taste pure ,neat dishes. You are given 2hours to have dinner and that was enough for us due to the fast service.The staff very polite and helped us to have a wonderful dinner!

You should visit at least once this place if you are a meat lover.We ordered tagliata black angus and japanese wagyu A5,both perfect grilled and delicious! So -1 star for this. When our server asked us how it was we told him it was too fatty, to which he replied "this is how picanha is" to which we said: "it is too fatty for a picanha". He apologised and I thought that would be the end of it.

We asked for dessert and the ekmek with ice cream was also nice.

This is said to be the best the taverna with the best grilled Argentinian steak in Athens, and I tend to believe it. When it arrived on the hot grill-plate, it was still sizzling and cooking so that customers can decide on their own how cooked they want it to be before they eat it. I don't like medium-rare meat, but this one was of such great quality that it actually was delicious. Every plate was masterfully cooked and seasoned. I especially liked the zucchini fries, the fava and the rocket-Parmesan salad with the sun-dried tomatoes. We chose to drink their white on tap and it was quite good. Even though I was alarmed when I read the other reviews regarding their prices, I must say they were quite reasonable for both the quantity served in each dish and the quality of the food. We paid 18 Euros a person, and we were all stuffed. The service is more formal than other casual tavernas, but that doesn't mean you have to dress casually for a visit. They have sitting in the garden, which is a good choice for the summer, but be forewarned: you need some kind of mosquito protection as they thrive in the area (perhaps the restaurant can do something about that, too?). The indoors area is much smaller than the garden, and their restrooms are done in a quaint decor and they are spotless. Booking in advance is advised as you may not find a table if you...

Επισκέπτομαι το συγκεκριμένο μαγαζί σταθερά εδώ και σχεδόν 7 χρόνια περίπου 4 φορές το μήνα. Πάντα εκτιμούσα την ποιότητα του φαγητού, ιδιαίτερα τις κοπές κρέατος, καθώς και το ευγενικό προσωπικό. Όμως η τελευταία μου εμπειρία ήταν τόσο απογοητευτική, που νιώθω την ανάγκη να τη μοιραστώ δημόσια.

Μέσα σε συνθήκες ακραίας ζέστης, ένιωσα έντονη αδιαθεσία, δύσπνοια και τάση λιποθυμίας. Ζήτησα ευγενικά να στραφεί προς το μέρος μας ένας ανεμιστήρας, καθώς εκείνη τη στιγμή χτυπούσε άδεια τραπέζια. Εξήγησα ότι έχω πρόβλημα υγείας και δεν ένιωθα καλά. Η απάντηση που μεταφέρθηκε από το σερβιτόρο ήταν πως “δεν είναι πολιτική του μαγαζιού να αλλάζουμε κατεύθυνση στους ανεμιστήρες, γιατί θα έρθει κόσμος”.

Σε απόγνωση, σηκώθηκα μόνος μου να στρέψω τον ανεμιστήρα προς το μέρος μας. Τότε εμφανίστηκε το αφεντικό με επιθετικό ύφος και μου είπε: “Μόνο εγώ κάνω κουμάντο εδώ. Δεν με νοιάζει πώς νιώθεις. Έπρεπε να διαλέξετε άλλο τραπέζι από την αρχή.” Να σημειώσω ότι τα “άλλα τραπέζια” ήταν ρεζερβέ όταν φτάσαμε, άρα δεν υπήρχε τέτοια επιλογή.

Είχαμε ήδη παραγγείλει αρκετά, ανάμεσά τους και μια πικανιά (για την ακρίβεια την δεύτερη) ένα πιάτο σχεδόν 50€, που όπως μας είπαν, ήθελε ακόμη 10 λεπτά να ετοιμαστεί. Εξηγήσαμε ότι λόγω της κατάστασής έπρεπε να φύγουμε και είπαμε να πληρώσουμε ό,τι έχουμε παραγγείλει χωρίς να μας αφαιρέσει αυτό που δεν θα παίρναμε . Η απάντηση ήταν να μας το δώσουν πακέτο συμπεριφορά που θύμιζε περισσότερο περαστικούς ή άγνωστους πελάτες, παρά τακτικούς επισκέπτες τόσων ετών. Και μιλάμε για ένα πιάτο που, αν καταναλωθεί 30 λεπτά αργότερα στο σπίτι, χάνει την αξία του εντελώς.

Στο τέλος, αν και έγινε επιστροφή χρημάτων, απουσίαζε κάθε διάθεση συγγνώμης ή ενδιαφέροντος. Η εμπειρία συνοδεύτηκε από μια έντονη αίσθηση αδιαφορίας Όταν στηρίζεις ένα κατάστημα τόσα χρόνια, το τελευταίο που σε νοιάζει είναι να πάρεις πίσω τα χρήματά σου. Ο γιος του ιδιοκτήτη εμφανίστηκε με ύφος «κριτή» και το μόνο που είπε ήταν «σου δίνω δίκιο», χωρίς την παραμικρή ένδειξη κατανόησης ή διάθεση συγγνώμης. Όταν του εξήγησα ότι πληρώνουμε για να έχουμε παροχές που να πληρούν βασικές ανθρώπινες συνθήκες, η απάντησή του ήταν απλώς ότι «άλλοι πληρώνουν», λες και οι συνθήκες διαβίωσης συμψηφίζονται ανάλογα με το ποιος πληρώνει περισσότερο. Η αντιμετώπισή του με έκανε να αισθανθώ πως δεν έχει καμία σημασία τι ανάγκες ή εμπειρίες έχει ο καθένας πρέπει απλώς να συμβιβαστεί με την κατάσταση.

Φύγαμε με μια αίσθηση πλήρους απογοήτευσης. Ήταν μια εμπειρία αποκαρδιωτική σε κάθε επίπεδο. Δεν αμφισβητώ την ποιότητα της κουζίνας. Όμως, όταν μια ταβέρνα αυτού του μεγέθους και τζίρου δεν μπορεί να διαθέσει 1–2 επιπλέον ανεμιστήρες για τον εξωτερικό χώρο και κυρίως δεν δείχνει την παραμικρή ενσυναίσθηση προς έναν πελάτη που πραγματικά δεν νιώθει καλά τότε το πρόβλημα δεν είναι ούτε στον χώρο ούτε στις παροχές. Είναι ζήτημα μιας ξεπερασμένης νοοτροπίας και αντίληψης για την εξυπηρέτηση, που παραπέμπει σε άλλες εποχές.

Με λύπη το λέω, αλλά μετά από τόσα χρόνια στήριξης, αυτή η συμπεριφορά με στενοχώρησε βαθιά. Με τέτοια μυαλά, όση προσπάθεια κι αν γίνεται να παρουσιαστεί ως “μοντέρνο”, το μαγαζί θα παραμένει μια απλή ταβέρνα, με ψήστες που νομίζουν ότι η εξουσία είναι πιο σημαντική από τον σεβασμό και...
